Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Lol you really need the evidence for Woj's well-documented hate for LeBron? Okay, here you go. I'm sure you will dismiss it anyway though or come up with some excuses to defend him: https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comment...t_like_lebron/
I ride with LeBron, so I ride with the Lakers for now. You can call me a fake fan, you can call me whatever you want, I really don't care; I'm rolling with them while LeBron is there, so I do care what happens with that squad. So for now, the Clippers are the enemy.
And you're right, LeBron/Kawhi/AD would be a stacked team but it's still not the same scenario with KD/Warriors and you know it, no matter what kind of spin you want to put on it. They'd be very thin ala the 2011 Heat. But as we saw this year, one injury can change everything. And realistically, the odds of Kawhi going to LAL are very low, so no need to get worked up over something that's likely not happening, as much as many Lakers fans would like to see it happen.
I read the first few and stopped. Seriously? That's the proof? The very first one they have of proof of Woj hating LeBron and having an agenda against them is reporting about Magic having Luke Walton on the hot seat and not adhering to the nonsense both Magic and Bron were talking about not coming down on Luke and being patient with the team because they're young and nothing coming overnight. Sounds to me like Woj was right on that reporting as Magic himself has since admitted to trying to fire Luke. Y'all literally spent the entire season bitching about Luke's shuffling lineups and rotations. Woj specifically mentioned in that article written in November that one of the areas of discontent among veterans was Luke's shuffling lineups. Y'all were literally bitching about firing Luke over his lineups in February and March. I can't with this discussion. I'm done bro LMAO.Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Wagner pick-up is a low-key good move IMO.. That's a good contract for what I feel will be a good player. If the Lakers play the multiple asset game rather than 3rd max game he would have been nice to keep.
Also, if the Lakers sign a max and have those QO on Caruso, Williams, and the 2nd round pick they drafted, does that mean they can get the full MLE by exceeding the cap?Comment

If they max DLo though.... those 20 mil a year rumors would need to be closer to true than maxing this dude.Comment

Cima posting like he's been sitting next to Jack since Magic got drafted while basically being one of the people who got caught on camera at Staples Center changing jerseys mid-game is high-key the most entertaining part of all of this.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

I heard, dismissed, and laughed at them for years, especially mid 00's. Being on the other side now, there's some legitimacy to their beef. Overblown a bit, sure...but I see it now.Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Just wanted to point out that I totally know Kawhi wouldn’t want to be in New Orleans. That’s why I said it would never happen in the post lol. Kawhi level free agents will NEVER sign with teams like NO, Charlotte, Sacramento, Chicago, Minnesota, Cleveland, etc. it’s just a fact of life at this point. I think it’s like video game companies and their bs argument about the market not being big enough to support 2 football games. They said the same thing about basketball when 2K was trying to break in and they grew the market with a good product and now they sell 10 million units and up a year when basketball games were lucky to sell 5 million combined at one point. These markets are never going to be able to attract free agents until somebody actually gives it a shot to go there and show other guys that you can go to these teams and make it work.
Sent from my iPhone using Operation Sports
Product is what matters the most. Lakers and Knicks are the most valued franchises in the league. And what have they got to show for it since the turn of the century? Amar'e and 34 year old LeBron.
What I'm trying to say is that statistically the "Superstars only want to go to big markets" narrative shows an extremely weak correlation.
Players want to go where they can win and where they feel they'd enjoy playing. KD joins the Warriors who were already a winning team. Chris Paul to the Rockets who were already a winning team. PG says screw the Lakers and joins OKC. LeBron and Bosh join Wade in Miami. Winning seems to be more important than anything.
You think if Jordan and Pippen were still on the Bulls today, people wouldn't be trying to join them because they are in Chicago? Lol
And when we talk about exposure, as mentioned plenty of times before, being in a "small market" doesn't affect players nearly as much as we used to think with the birth of an online world...and to top that off, with national TV coverage it's the good teams that get put on TV the most. Not the best market teams. The market follows the talent plain and simple.
So can we please put that narrative to bed for good?Last edited by TMagic; 06-27-2019, 02:01 PM.Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
As your resident quiet LAL fan who's found the organization to be pretty embarrassing lately, I'm not about to prop Pelinka up like some salary cap, trade, free agency genius because he cleared a little cap space.
I am excited about Anthony Davis, but I also have this sick feeling when I think about signing another max guy and having like zero depth or bench and the future picks given up to make this whole thing happen.
If you believed in Lebron and you need to win now then it was the right thing to do, but if it doesn't work (and it's probably not going to be beautiful early on next year even if it does eventually work out) the critics are going to be howling. I hope AD is ready for that...
I don't hang on to everything Woj says either. I muted Anthony Davis trade talk completely from my social media until something actually happened. I get tired of the "this might happen" type reporting everyone laps up and shares everywhere and Woj is right in the middle of that. With that being said, I don't see any cause for believing he has some sort of axe to grind with LAL.. that's just some weird fan victim mentality.Last edited by AUChase; 06-27-2019, 02:01 PM.Comment
