Are the Pelicans really trying to keep Holiday? Because if not that could easily find a deal like the one they are looking for. Holiday +4 would be incredibly attractive. Ditch them some cap space as well. That would be going full rebuild/youth but they would also have room to throw a max at a young guy like DLo after the fact.

I read the other day they had zero attentions of trading Holiday. This seems like the perfect time to trade him and the longer you keep him the less value he will have.

Might mean Kemba is staying though... Otherwise future firsts with the possibility of them falling back to a bottom 5 team? yikes.

Seems like too vague of a statement for them to have someone in mind also. Like if the news was they were willing to move up because they really like Culver, something like that would make sense. Otherwise it just comes across as moving up to better their choices in a draft that has so many question marks that they might not actually be bettering their choices lol.

He's also reporting that it looks like the Pelicans want the deal to be Kuzma rather than Ingram.

I'd much prefer to have Ingram than Kuzma. Please let that happen.

If he is telling the truth and the Pelicans counter offer has it Ball, Hart, Kuz, 4th pick and future 1st then you have to take that if your the lakers right away.

If the 3 team trade happens and the Pelicans come away with Levine, Kuz, 7th pick, Hart and future 1st that isn't anything to get excited about if your NO.

Would be much better in terms of talent and fit as well as youth/potential, but gives them less options for filling out the rest of the roster.

Kemba said he would turn down the supermax and take LESS to STAY in Charlotte if it helps them build a better team around him.

While it's an admirable move by him, it just continues to show how stupid and ineffective the supermax is going to be. Guys who are at that supermax level seem to care more about winning than extra $$.

I don't see Kemba leaving CHA.

Their salary cap is an absolute trainwreck though. They're paying a combined $85m next year to Batum, Biyombo, Zeller, and Marvin Williams.

I don't think keeping Kuzma has anything to do with him being more "talented" but more so him being the cheapest. We don't have many contracts so I'm sure LA trying get AD while also keeping as much money possible for free agency.

I still wonder if any of the scenarios involve the Lakers landing a pick back, hence the situation with them bringing Jarrett Culver in for a workout that I mentioned a couple weeks back. He's probably a 6-10 target, and you'd have to think they knew they were moving the 4th pick regardless.... I don't see how any picks in that range would be coming to them instead of NO though. Unless they have a back-up trade in place for a failed AD attempt.

Rumors also coming out of New Orleans that the star from a 3rd team they are trying to land is Bradley Beal. I guess Washington having not hired anyone for the front office yet has stalled talks between the 3 teams.

It's only 71 for those 4, it will be 85 if you add MKG, but your point still stands, they are in Cap Hell.

IMO, the best the Lakers could get back would be an early or mid 2nd rounder. The hope would be to find a diamond who could at least be a 10-12 man at the back of the roster.
