Nets unlikely to keep DLo if they sign Kyrie - per Ian Begley

I feel as if this almost has to be a Kyrie+Jimmy situation. Or maybe the Kyrie+KD in New York just meant the Nets all this time lol.

If they miss on other big names, it seems to me that not keeping DLo might be a mistake. Kyrie has lots of injury history as well, and I still don’t buy into the idea that Kyrie’s play style makes everyone around him better. Seems like the current Nets guys also rally around DLo at times, while on the reverse we have people questioning the same with Kyrie...

Kyrie and Dlo sounds like a terrible idea on defense, no?

I'm hoping its more likely he'd do a 1+1. He's always said winning is his top priority. How would it look to say that and then leave a team who won it all?

1+1 allows him to go for another run. If things dont work out as well next playoffs, then he could choose to leave.

If that happens, Raptors enter 2020 with one, MAYBE 2 max spots wide open.

Dont see any reason for a 5 year deal minus security because an injury at any moment could end career.

1+1 also gets him closer to the supermax. He could do 1 with Raptors, if he doesn't think they're gonna make finals in 2021, he leaves with another 1+1 deal elsewhere before signing supermax.

          The Nets need bigs.

Getting Kyrie is essentially getting an older, more expensive, tad more deadly version of what they already have.

I mean it could be, but they have solid rim protection, both of them are quick enough to not be horrible.. But they would likely never be a great defensive team with those 2 in the line up, no. But Kyrie+Jimmy I don't think is just substantially better. His defense in this years playoffs I noticed didn't look near as sharp as it did in his Bulls days, and even if he was locking guys up for the Nets that's still probably a middle of the pack defense if nobody else is brought in. With keeping DLo though they could probably sign a duo of like Jimmy and Pat Beverly, which all seems better than Kyrie and losing DLo.

Then again with no Kyrie maybe another star isn't attracted to BK.

            - BTW Jimmy declines player option, says he'll get a max wherever he goes, Sixers and Lakers interested in him... I don't love signing Jimmy at a max deal if an AD trade happens for the Lakers. Kawhi would be a bit of a different story.

Jimmy also apparently said if Miami wants to talk he would certainly and happily listen.. Miami doesn't have the cap room though I don't think.. Sounds like they need to facilitate that AD-Lakers trade and clear themselves some room lol. They also desperately need a point guard, cue Lonzo or drafting Garland at 4.

Well if they need bigs please send Allen on over to Memphis. I think he'll be a problem in another year or two.

I mean Allen by himself isnt enough, they need more.

Kyrie kinda makes the dynamic weird and makes them look a little impatient.

I think a motivated Jimmy Butler can be a good asset to a team. If he can get back to those Chicago days, he can really help a team. But I think he is a top choice for a team. I still think he can get a max deal. But I think he signs after the bigger names comes off the board. I think his best scenario is as a #2 scoring option. I never liked the ideal of 3 ball dominant players as a big three. I feel the 3rd guy usually has to sacrifice the most and usually has to become a guy he isn't. If you're going to have a big 3, you're 2nd or 3rd option has to be a Klay Thompson type of player imo. Where he is going to be a primary spot up shooter and plays without the ball and if doesnt shoot well in a game, he could still provide good defense. So I feel feel Jimmy doesn't fit in most of the potential big 3s.

A core of Bron, AD, and Jimmy could be good but would need shooters and depth with bigs. Kyrie +Jimmy could be a good pair, but I see leadership being an issue and they don't really make teammates better.

Pacers too, him and Oladipo would be fun to watch together.

DLo-VO-Bojan-Sabonis-Turner would be a good lineup in the East. Depending on moves other teams make they could be top 4-5 team in East. Both Oladipo and Russell are combo guards but good another playmakers to make it work.
