He has the skills to play in any system, but IMO after 4 years of being able to do whatever he wants I don't know if mentally he can make the switch. Have we observed anything in his makeup that makes it seem like he would change.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I think if he played under a coach he respected he would change but I'm not sure he will get traded to a team with coach like that.

Personally I don’t think he showed much better decision making or team involvement under McHale or Bickerstaff either.. not that he doesn’t have the skills to change, but I feel like he’s developed so many bad habits over the past few years it will be tough for even a player as good as him to instinctively adjust.

The issue with James is he has just done nothing for so long when he doesn’t have the ball that I don’t know that it’s even a part of his game at this point. We got to see it with CP3, he had the chances to play off him some but he just wasn’t willing to do that the same way CP3 was willing to play off him.

I mean this is during the playoffs even:

I realize when you’re a high usage guy you have to find moments to take plays off. But he’s so far to the extreme of that. He doesn’t even make effort to be a decoy, he doesn’t even spot up for the chance at an open shot. I just don’t see those instincts and willingness to change magically appearing out of nowhere, and forget him actually running off screens to actually get himself open or draw the attention towards him to get someone else open.

We can all blame D’Antoni as much as we want but instinctively his off-ball play is broken. That wasn’t Nash, wasn’t Melo, wasn’t CP3, wasn’t any other high usage player Mike has coached.

I think when he plays off ball his numbers get worse.

I don’t have advanced stats on it but I remember when Russ was going..Harden’s shots were more forced.

He would be great in Philly because he’s a perimeter threat unlike Ben. But I wouldn’t give up on Ben. I would just adjust Philly’s offense to make Embiid a distant second option.

As constructed, I still wouldn't mind trading Tobias. Mainly because I want Ben Simmons to be more aggressive. If it isn't up-tempo or transition, Ben gets very passive especially if the ball isn't in his hands. If I could package Tobias, Scott(seems to be in end of rotation), Furkan to get some pieces.
I would like a more proven vet off the bench especially if Seth starts. We're putting a lot of faith in Shake being a Lou Will/Crawford type of 6 man.

Would you trade a deal around Embiid for Hardin ? As I type this out I don't think this it improves your team anymore then what you have now

Since It's probably a few months before Danny Green can get traded his salary is needed. I don't think Houston would want to pay Wall and Harris 70 million combined. From the math side of things Embiid + Scott for Hardin and Tucker would work with a little more salary filler.

                  PG - Curry - Maxey - Shake
SG - Hardin - Thybulle (if you hang on to him)
SF -Harris - Green - Korkmaz
                  PF - Simmons - Tucker
                  C - Howard - Tony Bradley

I don't think Harden and Simmons is a good pairing.

I still think I rather see it play out with current roster.
Main thing with us is Ben & Joel and development of young guys. It's the obvious can Joel show up in shape(hard to tell from clips), stay healthy, be motivated. And for Ben, can he be more aggressive on offense. We're relying heavily on young guys on the bench. It would be nice to have a proven scorer off the bench. We need Shake, Maxey, Matisse, and Ferguson to hit the ground running .

This. Any contending team should stay away from Harden.
