Yeah, I didn't want to type anything but that "idea" is dumber than what they presently have.

Just beat who's in front of you and if you can't then you need to get better, period.

I want to see the "pick your poison" format so much in all sports.

How do you make a playoff matchup, especially in the NBA, more intense?

Make teams choose who they play.

A 76ers vs Hornets matchup doesn't sound exciting, but the 76ers choosing the Hornets to play in round 1, that'll light a fire under the Hornets, their fans, and build a small rivalry.

I don't like the play in though. And NBA will 100% eliminate it if the Celtics and Lakers lose in the play in this year.

Only way the play in should happen is if teams are tied for 8th. Don't use the tiebreaker to settle things, let them play 1 game.

If Suns fans are upset, they need to listen to their MVP. If the goal is a chip, ducking and dodging isn't doing you any good.

I agree. I rather see a play in with only Hornets-Pacers and GS-Memphis just because they are tied currently. I don't want to see a 10th seed who is always likely to 4-6 games under 500 with a chance for playoffs. I get you want to lessen tanking, but you're also saying that you can mediocre and still have a chance.

I think it is a disadvantage if you aren't the winner of the 7th-8th seed game. At least they'll have 3 days off before round 1. But you have to play the final play in game on Thursday or Friday, you're only going to have 2 days off facing a 1st seed who is likely to have a week off. Sixers have no incentives to play starters on Sunday, so they are likely to have 7 days off before round 1 and same could said for Utah if they can beat Kings Sunday or Suns lose tonight.

This is the correct mindset. There's also a place for strategically influencing the path of least resistance to a championship and it's unfortunate for the Suns that they don't really have the power to influence their path this year like some of the lower seeded teams do. It's really just bad luck though...how often does a team as good as the Lakers suffer those kinds of injuries all year and (appear) get healthy at the right time? Also this season is 10 games shorter than a normal year...that's a factor too.

Every one of these ideas is catastrophically terrible, I feel irrationally angry just seeing them.

Completely disagree with nearly everything except the last sentence/paragraph.

None of that is needed to make a series "more intense," since two or three losses (to the lower seed) can do just that.

Not sure why people (or fans) want to over complicate the seeding format. Especially with the NBA already adding the needless play-in 'tournament.'

The only time the 'play - in' should occur is when the 8th & 9th seed are tied.

I understand trying to remove tanking, but (for example) the Spurs have been terrible with the brutal post all-star game schedule.

Why 'reward' "us"/them with a chance for a playoff berth when they are clearly not worthy? Especially when exhaustion is playing a factor in their piss - poor play.

Honestly I'm not opposed to 72 games over the span of a normal season. Especially if it means less back to backs, lessens teams sitting players for load management, potentially reduces injuries.

It would also mean 'smaller checks,' renegotiating the terms of local and national broadcasting deals.

And less gate money once fans return in full force.

The reduction of the schedule will never happen especially with money/revenue being the main factor.

Definitely. They don't want to lose out on money. I just think less back to backs and 3 games in 4 days span will reduce chances of players sitting out of games and make more games competitive. You know with some stars, they aren't playing back to back and that automatically can change outcomes of games.

But, I at least like that they expanded the length of season couple years ago so it reduced it from where it was before.

Remember when Justise Windows vs Stanley Johnson was a draft thing [emoji23]

Stanley just had a career high the other night 35 points and Windows had a great game last night

Excuse me, I think you misspelled Tim Duncan in your post.

All good. I'm happy the big guy is going in the hall too!

In all seriousness, the Spurs, Lakers, Timberwolves & Celtics should all rock throwback jerseys to honor their inductions.

Congratulations to all three and it'll be bittersweet with Bryant's induction.
