    Re: 2021 Offseason Thread

Lmao Pack come get your boy Screamin’ A. Just saw he claimed that Kevin Durant stopped the Nets from trading Kyrie for Ben Simmons.

During a discussion with Kendrick Perkins on ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. hinted at a potential trade involving Simmons and Brooklyn’s Kyrie Irving,*claiming that Durant told the Nets front office “don’t do it.”

“Kyrie could’ve ended up in Philly,” Smith told Perkins. “[Nets GM] Sean Marks couldn’t do that because KD wasn’t having it.”

He continued, “I assure you: If it was not for Kevin Durant, the Brooklyn Nets would be interested in making that deal.”

It is the most "win-now" move they can make. It has less upside than other deals involving younger less proven players, but you know what you're going to get and it helps you win faster. CJ should be a good fit alongside Joel and you get a solid 3 & D wing in Roco. Only thing about that deal, is that it makes this team much slower than it already was, especially for a team that wasn't great in the Halfcourt to begin with. This is a 2-3 year max contending window deal. So, if they wait out they're looking for a higher upside deal that potentially extended the contending window

This is the corny **** that I’m talking about King with this league.

They really had an on air personality literally(Nick Wright) make up a rumor and idiots out here are really entertaining it.

Remember, Smith is the same dude that said it was 95% chance that KD/Kyrie were going to the Knicks a few months before FA started and we see how that ended.

                Re: 2021 Offseason Thread

I'm actually in the minority I'm sure that believes a Kyrie for Ben swap actually could be a good trade for the Nets, but it's not something that I believe they are even remotely considering. KD and Kyrie went there together, that trio has already built chemistry and were very successful when all healthy, like Stephen A. said KD wouldn't give his consent to that move and people are crazy if they think trades aren't at least somewhat discussed with the star players.

Stephen A. doesn't even help himself with that tweet lol. "I never said a trade was made" but he did say they would love a trade if not for KD, which is still just as silly to randomly bring about because the move likely isn't even on their radar. People discuss trade scenarios all the time, he could have easily said "I think this would be a good move for them but KD wouldn't go for it" rather than making it sound like it's something the team would love to do. Big difference... He acts like he's so connected but I guarantee not a single person from that organization has even hinted at that statement being true.

I don’t even care about him doing that.

It’s just funny how a TV personality(Nick Wright)made up a rumor on Twitter, no different than anyone else on there doing that because that’s literally all NBA Twitter does, and it lasted this long, lol. I know the last few weeks of the offseason are dry and boring, especially once everyone’s attention shifts to Football but damn…y’all want some attention that bad for this sport? Lol

And it only came up because of Kyrie’s random *** tweet about Masks being off, lol.

And as soon as they lock them up to extensions, those same people will be like “They only did that to make him happy and show to him that they’re committed to him, but it doesn’t mean that what I reported wasn’t true”.

Alright I’m done with my yearly media rant now lmao

I think Nick Wright made that **** up out of thin air, I don’t even see a connection between it and the Kyrie tweet.

The funny thing there is him ****ing his assistant was on Twitter like 2 months ago. Makes me wonder what the last straw was. Actually, looks like it was a VP so it’s not even a sketchy power situation.

My only connection/take/theory would be that because of what he said(“Mask off”) and when he said it and how people on social media freaked out, they assumed he was an anti-masker/anti vaccine and Wright probably assumed that too and figured that the “Nets would be tired of it and would be ready to move on”.

She must not be a direct report because that relationship didn't even break any policy, it just made people at work uncomfortable. It was definitely a combination of stuff. He sounds like a real piece of work.

Somebody make sense of the Lakers working out guys like IT, Darren Collison, Kenneth Faried, and Monta Ellis? Getting current players who are old isn't enough so they also need former players who are old? lol

Two empty spots for training camp still, and two empty guaranteed contract spots on their official 15 man roster as well. I'm sure the young guys they'll just send to the G league, but surely they don't expect guys like Faried or Ellis to potentially be stronger fits than bringing back Wes Matthews, Dudley, or Morris would have been. So strange.
