Lakers rumors have been all over the place. They always are I know, but supposedly they've been "right there" on a Buddy trade, DeRozan trade, and Westbrook trade. All of which are likely to include their pick, however they've also been in talks to use their pick to move both up in the draft and back in the draft. Makes no sense.

The moving back in the draft made sense from a S&T standpoint. As they would have been hard-capped if trading for say DeRozan or Lowry. So maybe there was some initial traction on a Lowry trade before it came out that he wants paid, and moving back in the draft would have allowed them to draft a player who would still fit their cap sheet..

Moving up in the draft I don't really understand. Seems they won't land Hield or Westbrook without including the pick, so I don't know what the play was there. Rumor is they want Duarte, but I don't understand how any of these rumors all fit together. And literally rumors the same day said they are trying to move up for Duarte, move back for Shamet and the Nets pick, and using the pick to get Hield... Like wtf

Weird thing is all those scenarios seemed to have some legit traction outside of the silly "made up" stuff. So idk what to believe. Trez is linked in all this, but he can only be traded if he basically agrees to be traded and accepts his option. Would likely benefit him to go to somewhere like Sac and have a big year statically to earn that bigger payday, but I'd have to imagine he could get a bit more this year and do the same thing just by leaving and testing free agency. He's still a 20 & 10 guy.

I woudn't bet on Hield to break the curse.

I think I read something yesterday that the only players to shoot as well as Hield per number of attempts are Steph, Klay, and Duncan Robinson. So I think he definitely can and will shoot well for them, it's just that he doesn't offer anything else and doesn't fit their goal of getting some sort of dynamic playmaker like they've been saying from the start of the off-season. Hield seems like the opposite of a Frank Vogel player as well, he had offensive talent in Trez and Kuz that he basically benched for defense last year. So this trade makes no sense if Hield is losing minutes to Caruso come playoff time regardless.

Local report says interest is mutual. You never know with Sarver cause he's a cheap *** but he's kinda in a tough spot. Suns really benefited from everyone else's injuries and I think most don't see them as a legit title contender if the other teams are healthy mainly because CP3 is due to regress. I see them like the 2020 Heat...a lot of chips fell in their favor even though they weren't the best team. But you can't let him walk either cause it's a big drop-off...but do you really wanna give his old *** 3 more years and over $100 million? That's a tough sell for me.

And now also word of the Lakers in talks with Golden State for the 14th pick. Consistent with the reports of them trying to jump Washington at 15.

I'm assuming this might be the Lakers including a player in a 3 team trade to help Golden State land another "star"? But who knows. Why the Lakers would want to make Golden State better just to draft a guy at 14 is beyond me though.

I highly doubt the Lakers would make a deal that they think improves Golden State's chances of acquiring a star. In all likelihood, it's just one of their meh players like KCP and #22 to move up to #14. Supposedly they've been high on Duarte though I still find that unlikely personally.

Stein says talks with Hield most serious, but San Antonio is interested in a Kuz DeRozan S&T. Just from a cap standpoint the Hield trade is a better one, probably fit as well. But I guess there is always the chance Pelinka runs one more year of working cap magic to finally go over the hard cap next year when they move off the Deng contract.

Trezz opting in gives the Lakers another piece to use in these deals.

I realize that it's just how business is done so you have to let it slide, but I'd have a hard time not just hanging up the phone and not taking any more calls from any GM that made a offer like Morey seems to have made.

Shooting for the moon. That deal wouldn't make sense for the Sixers unless they are flipping those picks and Wiseman in another deal. I just feel they are putting it out there that you aren't getting Simmons for cheap and they are ultimately holding out hope for a Dame/Beal deal
