Re: 2021 Offseason Thread
I mean you just said it landed them a 3rd superstar and that even included KCP even instead of Schroder. [emoji2371]

Re: 2021 Offseason Thread
Says who? Lmao you gotta stop with this nonsense.
On another note, I don't see how Hield is still on the table. Schroeder has no reason to help LA and Sac has no need for him, they're set at PG

Even if not him and the kings could the lakers find some other kind of sign and trade for Schroeder to bring in a shooter?Comment

Re: 2021 Offseason Thread
I think Pack and I were the only two guys to typically come to Russ's defense in here lol. I still don't think it's an ideal fit for LAL, but it will be humorous to see so many people who have been bashing him over the years talking about how loaded he makes the Lakers if this all ends up fitting well together. Regardless it's another dynamic, good all around player on a team that was really missing pieces that could do multiple things well outside of the obvious 2.Comment

Re: 2021 Offseason Thread
To be fair I said it was enough to be better than the Bulls but would not be better than what GS or Philly could offer. Regardless it was a lesser package for a player who is technically a better all around player. Probably not a better fit with redundancy and lack of shooting, but better all-around.Comment

Re: 2021 Offseason Thread
After seeing the Raptors full draft, they went all out getting defensive minded players whose weakness is offense.
So it's only fitting that their target this offseason in free agency or trade is a player who is offensive minded with their weakness being defense since they'll be surrounded by a defense first lineup to hide that weakness.
I wonder if that player is acquired in the Lowry sign and trade, or if they really do move Siakam. If they move Siakam, I wonder if a guy like Beal or CJ would be options.Last edited by Majingir; 07-30-2021, 12:03 AM.Comment

Re: 2021 Offseason Thread
Outside of that, I absolutely think the Lakers need to try for a S&T or pay Dennis what he wants to stay on board as 6th man. He can always be traded later and they could always use him off the bench which he's best suited for anyways.
You're right that Dennis has no reason to help them, but he can help himself with a S&T as well by helping the team he wants to go to shed the cap space to acquire him. We see it happen all the time. Just because Dennis eyes another team doesn't mean they have the free money to offer him, or would want to just freely renounce the rights to the players it would take to make that room either.
Example being Chicago has been the most interested in him, I'm not sure they have the space to even make the rumored offers without renouncing rights to everyone currently pending. I feel like those rumors might be from Dennis's camp anyways to push for more money, but theoretically if Chicago traded Thad or Tomas they could make something work there. Not saying they would, or that they are even interested, but just an example. Ayo was also not "supposed to make it past the Lakers at 22", so the Bulls also drafted a guy they supposedly wanted. Ayo and Thad for Dennis as an example.
Just pulling guys off the top of my head, with Rubio gone I could see a Schroder for Beasley type of move. No idea what Boston's hunt for a starting PG is looking like but is Smart out of the realm of possibilities, or reunite Thompson with Bron. Feel like shooting will be too big of a priority for the Lakers to want either of them though.
I do think the Lakers should avoid swapping him for another guard, as guys like Bledsoe and Rubio should be buyout candidates. And guys like Mills, Dragic, etc might be contender hunting.Last edited by ojandpizza; 07-30-2021, 01:01 AM.Comment

Re: 2021 Offseason Thread
I'am just gonna enjoy the ride. I'am sure it will have ups and downs but it's gonna be exciting every night imo. Winning another title was always gonna be a difficult task all things considered so might aswell make it exciting.
I welcome Westbook here.Comment

Re: 2021 Offseason Thread
Everybody is gonna have their take on the Westbrook trade and I know he’s a former MVP but I don’t think it’s good for the Lakers.
Unless Russ can realize he won’t win as the number one or even the number two and focuses on being a good playmaker and puts more energy on his defense than his offense then it works.
