We did it last summer with KD and Harden playing those pickup games in LA so I get it haha

I hope it does work out though and kills a lot of the lazy narratives about Westbrook. Lots of people thought Kyrie, Harden and KD would be a disaster and they would be at each other throats, questioned their “fit” and of course that got debunked after a month when they finally played together.

Personally I don't' think Russ should change at all. He's fit just fine next to KD, Harden, Beal, and every big he plays with produces massively with him on the floor. He had Kanter looking like an All-Star so he should have AD looking like MVP and if Bron gets some of the pick and roll looks as the screener and easy transition looks like he did playing with guys like Wade and Kyrie this definitely takes pressure off of all 3 guys.

Sure he's going to have moments when he doesn't give up the ball, takes a bad shot late, or gets left on an island and can't convert, but people have to stop acting like that's an all game long every game thing.

AD doesn't need Westbrook to look like an MVP. Best way to utilize him, if he really is going to swallow his ego (I don't count on it), would be for him maybe being the 1st (early) substitution for the Lakers where he overlaps a bit with LeBron and AD but also leads the 2nd unit.

Also if Dallas fails on their Lowry/Dame/Beal hunt and can't move KP for a quality guard I'd think the Lakers would be all in on a Schroder to Dallas for some mixture of Richardson/Powell/WCS/DFS/Brunson.. I'm sure a Josh Richardson and Cauley-Stein/Brunson swap would help both sides. Or Richardson and Powell would help Dallas shed more money.

He doesn't "need" him but after two years of watching Bron, and Rondo, be the only guys who could make things easier for him Russ could definitely help maximize his game. Anything that gets him easier looks is a win. Lakers don't need him pretending to be KD anymore.

I think he should start, but I also believe he will absolutely eat minutes when those guys sit as well.

Barring injury to the Big 3, the Lakers will win a lot of regular season games but it won't mean squat. High leverage moments in the playoffs is what it's going to be about and that is where things are going to fall apart IMO.

That's just one of those things like what are you gonna do? Tell guys they can't hang out or talk lol. Players will always have that loophole.

I don’t know why dudes still don’t believe in Westbrook. My only gripe with him is his shot selection. He thinks he’s a better shooter than he actually is. If he cuts way back on his 3 point attempts and just does everything else he does, the Lakers will be fine. You gotta believe they’ll find a shooter or 2 once free agency opens up

Obviously not much on here but other places I am getting so sick of the pessimism and bitching about the Lakers getting Russell ****ing Westbrook to team with LeBron ****ing James and Anthony ****ing Davis. Blow me with the spacing concerns, the Lakers have 3 of the absolute best finishers in the game and you can now do freaking WB/AD PnRs or WB/Bron PnRs like that somehow isn't gonna be a handful for defenses to handle?

The only concern when you have a big 3 is health but if you gotta face a healthy Nets squad then you want this kind squad to face them if you want a chance at winning.

To me this most likely comes down more so to what Bron has left in the tank and how aggressive AD is, than what they get from Westbrook. I know that's not a popular take here, but I'm not on the Westbrook loses you every close game train. The closest thing he's had to this talent had GS down 3-1, he's still in his prime if healthy, his efficiency is always going to be super shaky but I don't see Bron and AD also becoming super shaky like KD and Ibaka did.

Obviously we don't know what the rest of the roster will look like, or what the other teams in the west will look like either. I just don't see Russ as a huge playoff hinderance.

People would rather cling to narratives to certain players than to actually admit they’re wrong. Maybe it’s a pride thing idk.

Things can always go right but they’d rather wait for that one time where it doesn’t work and then go “See I told you so!” and that’s exactly what people are going to do with this Lakers team. Context and nuance is going to go out the window when it comes to discussing this team, I guarantee it.

If this week has shown us anything it's that commentary from certain fans and media will always be ridiculous.

It isn't tampering because it's the players, but it'll never not be funny that the Bucks lost a draft pick because Woj incorrectly reported a deal that wasn't done yet while so much other stuff goes on. At least we got our ring though.

Westbrook with the Lakers should at least be good in the regular season. We'll see in the playoffs. Teams will certainly cheat off of Westbrook to try to send an extra defender at LeBron and Davis. I'm sure the Lakers will bring shooters in to surround those 3 but there's definitely potential for it to ultimately result in teams being able to shrink the floor against them. It'll be fun to see how it unfolds.
