Wild how in the WNBA, they get a Finals with the clearly 2 most talented teams in the league yet in the NBA, it’s always some BS messing up a potential matchup like in the Finals, lol

I think that just shows the talent level difference. I always think about that 2009 season. Everyone wanted Kobe vs LeBron. We almost had if it weren't for the Orlando Magic saying hell na. They were a better team period. I recently saw Iggy on the JJ Reddick podcast. They were talking about the teams that changed the NBA offense as we know it. 2005 Suns, 2009 Magic, 2012 Heat and others.

I think in the WNBA talent right now is tight. I do wonder how this new team (San Francisco) will fit in the league

That series completely ****ed the Cavs and their future... Not sure how many options they realistically had being built around an aging Big Z and needing Mo Williams to be your "2nd star" when he realistically should have been a 6th man, but that series forced them to prepare for Orlando instead of just building the best group they could around what they had... Going all in on Shaq and Jamison, which left them ****ed the very next year against Boston and likely would have been just as much of a bad matchup against the Lakers too.

Cavs roster management was really bad that entire stretch after drafting LeBron, and it's hard to know what the alternatives to the Shaq and Jamison trade would have been.. But they definitely went away from their strengths making those moves... If there was any truth to the Amar'e rumors that was obviously the move to make, but even that (would have came after the Shaq move) would have been an awkward fit after already getting Shaq..

Basically going panic mode to "stop" Dwight screwed them. Realistically should have upgraded to someone more suited to pick up the guys Dwight was kicking the ball out too. Williams/West duo was too small, playing Andy and Big Z together inside meant they didn't have anybody to defend one of Shard/Hedo. The idea that they needed this big strong post guy was just weird, they had just won 66 games and LeBron had one of the best (maybe the best) playoff runs ever and their solution was to park a giant Mack Truck in the middle of the lane?

The Anthony Parker signing was a good one. He was older and a bit too slow to be the a SG like they played him as but that was the right type of upgrade they needed. Making the Richard Jefferson, Q Rich, or Vince Carter trades (they were just traded for basically nothing) instead of the Shaq trade and then maybe pushing for Amar'e over Jamison in season, that would have been more in line with the direction they needed to go. Hindsight is everything I suppose, but they really let that series **** all their common sense (or what little that FO had).... Admittedly they were headed towards a dead-end regardless from previous mistakes anyways.

Apparently Toronto was gonna get a team but the ownership group who also owns the Raptors backed out.

If they won't pay, I don't think anyone will.

So why not go to a smaller venue?

I've heard mixed things about their minor hockey arena (it's a great arena to watch a game or event from, seats 9000, but I've heard some claim they're not allowed hosting basketball due to ceiling height, not sure if that's true or if rules are diff in WNBA for venue/jumbotron height).

The G League arena for the 905 seats under 6,000 which would probably be too small.

If the team could've played out of the 9,000 seat hockey arena, that would be perfect location for them. Guess it wasn't a possibility.

Aces ran away with that one in the 2nd half.
