Re: WNBA/ G League Thread
Down BG, Mercury were scrappier and hung with Vegas for longer than I thought. Natasha Cloud is a dawg; like her as an addition to Phoenix.
Liked the little back and forth between Diana and Plum in the first half.
Just moved to Dallas; looking forward to taking my daughter to a game. They have Jacy coming off the bench; interested to see if and when she becomes a starter.Rice Owls - Houston Astros/Dynamo/Rockets/Texans - Arsenal - PSGComment

Re: WNBA/ G League Thread
Toronto officially announced as the 14th WNBA franchise.
Surprising that despite not being associated with them, Raptors President Masai Ujiri is in attendance as is Kyle Lowry (he's a FA I guess, but still weird since he's still an active player showing up for it, unless he's planning to retire and sign a 1 day deal with the Raptors?)
Raptors ownership group not associated with it but there have been some in that group who were against the WNBA team and against Masai staying with the Raptors. I know the money won't be there, but if the WNBA franchise offers Masai some job higher than being a president of the team while having ownership stake, maybe he jumps at it? One of the Raptors top execs already left to be one of the heads of the team.Comment

Re: WNBA/ G League Thread
The group that owns the Raptors are the ones who paid for the team....
Toronto has been awarded the WNBA's first franchise outside the United States, with the expansion team set to begin play in 2026.
Larry Tanenbaum-led Kilmer Sports Ventures is paying $115 million for the team. Tanenbaum also is the chairman and a minority owner of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, the Toronto sports giant that owns the NHL's Maple Leafs and NBA's Raptors along with Toronto's MLS and Canadian Football League franchises.Last Movie Watched: Morbius (2022).
Last TV Show Watched: MARVEL's What If?...(S3:E7).

Tannenbaum is a part owner for MLSE, but he's breaking off into his own company separate from the main owners in MLSE (Bell/Rogers) so he doesn't have as much power anymore and I think he's sold (or will be selling) a good chunk of his MLSE stock too.
MLSE (Rogers and/or Bell) didn't want a WNBA team, which is why no announcement happened last year when GS got their one.Last edited by Majingir; 05-23-2024, 11:39 AM.Comment

Re: WNBA/ G League Thread
I am utterly disgusted with the Caitlin Clark nonsense flooding all my social timelines. You’d think someone pulled out a baseball bat and smacked her in the back of the head with it on the court the way some people are talking about what happened.
