New York has two; LV has two; Phoenix - shoot - they might have three now; Minnesota (Napheesa), Seattle (Jewell), and Dallas (Arike) have one.
That was their problem last year. Just missing that go to scorer. I watched the first half of that game. Didn't finish it had to leave. Defensively they amazing

Are people ready to admit Caitlin Clark isn't a star yet ? She has potential, but she is not a star. She is turnover prone. If she didn't sell tickets, she wouldn't be a starter and that is a fact. Any other player who who turnover the ball as much as she does every game would be coming off the bench with limited minutes.

The league trying to force her into a star but she isn't ready yet. Skill level isn't there, body isn't there yet. Boston and Mitchell are the stars of the team.

I’m ready for people to just stop focusing so much on her.

A lot of the discourse around the league is cooked because folks can’t resist talking about her without projecting.

All these good teams and we wanna keep focusing on this sorry *** one? Lol

I don't know if y'all been watching her games. But they definitely been cutting her minutes and taking her out of key defensive possession of games. Been seeing it for about 2 weeks now.

It’s wild because I was one of those folks who thought the Mystics should’ve taken Reese because it made too much sense but so far, I think Edwards was the right pick for them.

WNBA needs a star that transcends the league and they/the media have decided its her. She's got extra eyes on the league and now we'll see if those extra eyes decide to stay for a bit (I'm skeptical). The hope is that more people tune in to watch Clark but decide the other players are worth watching too so they stick around. They will continue to push Clark as a star until that ratings bump goes away.

I still won't watch it, but I do think this little good vs bad rivalry Clark and Reese have is great. Angel is just so naturally unlikeable though. I saw the highlight of the flagrant and her post game conference and she was really committed to playing that reverse victim card after giving Clark the clothesline from hell. But I miss this kind of rivalry in the NBA.

Me personally and as we’ve already seen, I’d be questioning the motives of those “extra eyes”. Especially since they’re only using Clark to project their feelings about the league and to push their agenda as opposed to actually talking about the players/rookies/teams that are actually good.

And the discourse has gotten nasty and ugly to the point where it’s not even about the actual game on the court. On one side, you have the people who think Clark is the “Damsel in Distress, who is getting bullied by the big, mean black women”, another side you have the “Those women owe their lives/career to her” and the other side is “Clark NEEDS to speak up and denounce all the things being said about the league/other players”.

Just use that clip for example. We’ve seen that type of foul plenty of times in the NBA and we would just be like “Toss them from the game and fine them” and keep it moving.

Now you got CNN, Fox News, Deadline Hollywood, Local News Stations actually dedicating REAL time/coverage to THAT foul? LMAOOOO

TLR - Everyone sounds unhinged/insane with this league as far as the takes/opinions. The only other athlete in century I’ve seen generate all of *this* was Tim Tebow.

Just curious, what makes Angel Reese “naturally unlikeable”, especially if you say you don’t/wont watch?

It's like we have to turn everything into a societal/political/racial divide, and get in our emotions fighting for one side or the other. Truly dumb af. And combine that with the weirdest level of gatekeeping of the WNBA. Ironic that that's even a thing, but social media will do that I guess.

If that foul is getting coverage on non-sports news outlets yeah thats ridiculous. Its a run of the mill flagrant foul. Nothing special about it.

As far as what makes Angel naturally unlikeable, its a bit like when we say a guy has a punchable face. Its the opposite of having natural charisma, she just has an likeable face (facial expressions maybe?). I feel like you are fishing for something though

Ellipsis always leave out context. But I did check her full comments before posting and I wouldn't say this was "a lot" of context. She started getting defensive as soon as they mentioned the flagrant ("basketball play"). I saw the highlight of the foul, then a clip of the post game interview where ESPN made an obvious edit/transition so I watched her full interview. It doesn't leave out a lot of context.

Don't commit a flagrant foul and and one minute after being asked about it play the victimized by the refs angle. Its always going to be a bad look.
