At least we know where Kyrie is gonna be next season. On Times Square with a megaphone and the Black Hebrew Israelites.

      NBA Off Topic Thread

I’ll say this: I feel like a lot of people who watch and cover the NBA would be surprised to hear that he’s not the only one who feels that way. He’s the only one who will speak on it publicly, but he’s not the only one and it would be naive to think he is to.

Especially in a league where 75-80% of your players are Black/African American. Because you can be Pro Black and all “I’m rooting for everybody Black”. But you can’t be those things AND go after Jews. That’s a line we’ve(Black People)known for years not to cross.

I also think most of the reaction on Twitter is all performative and definitely giving Selective Outrage but that’s basically what Twitter is so I’m not surprised.

Maybe the reason people assume his intent is because he’s leaned into this kind of rhetoric before. Maybe it’s because no one with any sense would post something they are against without comment. Maybe they took half a second more than you and looked into the situation, who’s to say? Either way, we do this song and dance every time a social issue comes up and you give your uninformed take. I shouldn’t have said anything or expected different, you do you.

Is it always my take is THAT uniformed or that I just refuse to make everything a bigger issue than it is and immediately jump straight to the knee jerk reaction?

Just look at all this Covid crap now. Everybody getting all their jobs and money back for not being vaxed because that **** was unconstitutional to begin with. But I was UiNfOrMeD for pointing that out from the jump.

Nobody knows what Kyrie thinks/feels in regards to that. I understand the backlash towards him but just because insert whoever wants to assume the worst on their own while I’m not doing that when I literally don’t know doesn’t make me any less informed that that person is. None of us are in dudes brain, we’re all uninformed to this perspective.

Comparing the movie Kyrie posted to the Movie Till is the definition of being uninformed.

I’m not even comparing the movies, I’m comparing the fact that somebody (in this case me and Kyrie) watching a movie isn’t justifiable for outrage. People can watch whatever the **** they want to watch.

If I watch a movie at my house I don’t need my boss sending out an email to corporate explaining how they don’t condone my watching a movie.

Bruh you cant be this misinformed lol.

1st its not just a movie.
Pretty much like Mein Kampf aint just a book.

2nd he did not just watch a movie.
He watched it and then proceeded to post about it online.

Its the online part that got him in trouble.
Not the part of him watching the movie.

Your boss wont care about what you do at home.
Your boss will care if you go online and do **** that is bad for business.

That's quite a minimization of what's going on.

I would imagine NBA players are no different than anyone else when it comes to this stuff. They come across theories or ideas that they had never heard about, presented by people who seem credible or charismatic enough to not be instantly dismissed, and so they give them their attention and try to figure things out in their own head. Whether they believe 1% of it or 100%.

Things outside the mainstream are inherently more interesting to check out, and Kyrie seems like he's deep down the path of exploring all of it. But he's gonna get dinged because he has a platform, and people are all about making sure those people stay in check.

Say what you want about Kyrie's decision to "promote" the movie, but I can't help but to sympathize with him during post game press conferences.

Maybe it wasn't a great PR response but I completely agree at his response to that patronizing question "do you understand..." when Kyrie quipped he doesn't have to understand anything from him.

No offense OJ, but you have no influence. You posting about a movie you like means pretty much nothing because 99% of the people that follow you will scroll right past it and not give a flying **** what you have to say about it. Kyrie Irving and his 4.6 million Twitter followers and the people still defending Kanye West and countless other people that open their mouths just for hateful, stupid, blatantly false stuff to come pouring out of it however had said influence on people to adopt their way of thinking and continue spreading whatever nonsense they shill to them. That's the difference between the ridiculous analogies you're bringing to the table right now.

What does this really matter though? Of course Kyrie isn't the only one to feel like that but if they're not stupid enough to put it out there and identify themselves then what's your point of even mentioning it. Should we shut down the NBA cause other dudes feel like Kyrie does? David Duke isn't the only white dude who thinks people like you and me shouldn't be walking the same streets he does. Guess everything is all good and I should just shrug my shoulders on what comes out his mouth cause other white people feel the same way.
