I am assuming this means their number 17 pick is getting moved.

      Re: NBA Draft 2023

Raptors have apparently spoken to Nets about trading 13th pick for 21st-22nd picks.

Craziest part of this whole thing, the cash is supposedly over 4m!?

That's what I read, it sounds too crazy to be true though. Over 4m to move up 7 spots in the 2nd round?

Acts like they can't go into the tax but will drop 4+ mil to jump 7 spots in the 2nd round?

Part of me thinks they might be dealing their 17th pick to Indiana as well. That can't be announced before the pick is made but this could indicate something like that. However, if that was the case couldn't they just make that trade as one deal? Maybe 17 is headed elsewhere.

Regardless it doesn't seem normal to drop that much for 2nd round movement if that's the only move in play.

They can definitely announce it (meaning Woj/Shams breaking the trade) now if they want to. It's just that the hats won't be switched in time since the trade won't be official quickly enough.

As a fan of a team that potentially wants to buys a 2nd round pick. If it was $4M to move up 7 spots, I don't know if they could buy a 2nd round pick. There has to be a limit on cash allocated for that type of transaction. Only way I can see a team buying a pick, is if it is in the late 50s.

With Washington acquiring Tyus and Jordan, I'm hoping the Wizards draft either Leonard Miller or Taylor Hendricks.

They have a need at PF and I'm not high on Black's lack of a perimeter game.

I think cash considerations limit is like 6m

Miller is the guy to me too but feels like he's gonna end up going in the 20s instead. I'd be pretty happy with Black at 8 though it sounds like there's a lot of buzz he's the guy Orlando is targeting at 6.

For Washington, it probably depends if they actually view Poole and Tyus as long term pieces or not. It's entirely possible they view them as assets to flip later on and don't really care about the fit right now (and they probably shouldn't care much about the fit either way to be honest).

True, I'm looking at it less as 'long-term fit' and more as drafting a guy that can immediately play (and develop). Last thing Washington needs is another Johnny Davis situation.

Obviously, anyone drafted in the top 10 should play immediately. Yet, teams are constantly drafting guys with no plan (it seems) for finding them minutes.

As much as I'd love to agree with you, Jeebs, that is rarely the case. Guys that "fix" their shot in the pros seem to be outnumbered by the guys that don't.

Black has a bad shooting form & he'll likely have to spend a lot of development time correcting it. If I was Orlando I would stay away from another poor outside shooting PG.

The same goes for the Thompson twins, too. Unfortunately, this draft doesn't have a lot of dynamic SG prospects (in Orlando's range).

I’ve heard/read a lot about those Twins but it’s been mainly on Twitter.

Considering I’ve watched zero College Ball, are they as good as advertised?

They both skipped college and were in the OTE (Overtime Elite).

Which is a start-up "prep league" of sorts. They played against mostly HS kids, so it'll be hard to gauge how "NBA - ready" they are.

Both are über athletes, though, with intriguing skill sets. Neither is very good or consistent from the perimeter, though.

Oh they weren't in college. They ran in the Overtime circuit. I just call it the D-League [emoji38].

Amen is definitely the better of the 2. I've watched a few of their games this year. Per usually shooting is what the probably is/was. But they both have maybe strides in the area. I also think both have room to grow a little more. Probably into the 6'10 range. Both can jump out of the gym. I've seen the development of their jumpers. I think they will get better if people give them a chance.
