Why wouldn’t it benefit either side?

Better question is what would be the downside to either party? I think it’s a low risk/low-medium reward move signing for them.

For a team that lacked a lot of maturity/veteran leadership on the bench, he could always help in that regard at the least.

I think he was thinking along the lines of where my head was when I first saw that too. Basically you just expected him to wind up on a contender that could use another 3&D guy, not some young team where he's stuck behind developing players..

Definitely get what you're saying too though, we harp on teams like Houston every year for needing veteran presence then pull the "why would they do that" when those teams actually sign a veteran lol..

Looking at the team, I sorta forgot they added Dillon Brooks, Jeff Green, and Landale. So somewhat pivoting back to my first thought, if you've added those vet types already what's the benefit of this signing now???

IDK I'm neutral now. I think realistically he eats some minutes they lost with Porter being gone, which means we see him more as a "wing" 2/3 than the 3/4 guy he was for Dallas and he likely gets a decent chunk of minutes and can play his way into maybe a bigger contract for next year.. Makes sense in that regard. He might also be the best player they could realistically add for "free" and they seem like they will be competing for wins this year.

Houston could be interesting.. They have some nice depth pieces, and while I'm not all in on the FVV being good enough to get paid/have trade-value like a superstar point guard they could be breakout years for Green, Smith JR, and Sengun away from being a really good squad.

I saw they were saying last time he did this. He dropped 44,17 in the first game. So maybe he knows something [emoji23]

Out of the names you mentioned, Green is the only real leader on there. Sure the other two have been in the league for a few years but they’re not necessarily the type you’d lean on compared to Green(as far as learning good habits on/off the court, even though the other 2 are better players at this point)

But like I said, it’s low risk/low-medium reward so there’s no real harm in them adding a player like that, in response to your question about the benefit of signing him now. Worse case, he gets cut during the season.

The Clippers are trying to acquire more draft picks to meet the Sixers' asking price for James Harden, per The Athletic.

Since I don't have the Athletic and this is basically the same thing. I didn't really want to post this, but I really don't get Terance Mann being the sticking point for either side. For either team, he's not going to be a starter. He's being talked up as a young prospect that the Clippers don't want to move in case things go south with Kawhi and PG. He's not 22-25 with high upside, he's going to be 27 this year. They're treating him like Sixers treated Thybulle before they finally moved him(in a salary dump). I like Mann's game, but at best, he's the type of role player you want on a playoff team. For the Clippers, I don't see why they are adamant on keeping Mann. If they acquire Harden, then Mann isn't getting a lot of minute's anyway with Westbrook, Hyland, KJ Martin, Primo, and other young players they want to develop. And for the Sixers, it's not like they are a Terance Mann away from competing and he cuts into their cap space plan next year. He's not going to start. At best, he'll be a 6th/7th man. But, he does give them more of what they need. He gives you a little of everything. Another ball handler, a little shot creation, good size and athleticism, can defend 1-3. But, he's not a missing piece. The big thing is getting multiple firsts, in which they can flip later

Yeah, dude needs to be admitted or seek some psychological help.

He has some untapped potential, but whatever is going on with his mental health is far more paramount.

Thunder weren't going to let a little bad press stop them from getting draft picks lol

That man isn't afraid. The GM can't remember his name right now. It's just long term how you are going to pay these players. Can't have that much talent right?

Sam Presti is the GM of OKC.

                          Is that really bad press?

They have no intention of keeping him, him even going to them is almost a paper transaction just to dump Oladipo for picks.

Not really. I think it was inevitable that someone who do that type of deal. I think it being Sam Presti almost kills any backlash

Small number of Folks are fussing online that both teams are “profiting” off this(NBA is disgusting for allowing this to happen!) but those people are never satisfied either way.

Dude ain’t getting paid and probably won’t play for sometime and unless they want him locked under the jail, which is a separate issue itself, there really isn’t much more to do.
