Gotta see if it translates to the court as well, though. I like how Portland is handling the post Damian Lillard - era, thus far.

If they can move Jerami Grant, Time Lord and Ayton could be a damn good pairing. On paper they compliment each other's skillets.

Definitely like what Portland is doing. Would like to see Portland get some vets for the bench for growth and culture. Just because you're rebuilding doesn't mean you have to take the Houston Rockets approach.
I don't see Portland getting a first for Brodgon, especially with the injury concerns. I can see it being a salary matching and 2nd round picks or at best top 20 protected pick. I wouldn't want to see Clippers trade for Brogdon because it would be the worst case scenario for Sixers lol. But, Clippers could do Morris+Coffey+protected future first for BrogdonLast edited by illwill10; 10-01-2023, 07:28 PM.Comment

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
late but couldn't be more thrilled with the Jrue move. hate that it costed Rob but you can't rely on him when it matters I'm not sure the pre-finals Rob is coming back who was truly special but i'm going to miss him a bunch. In the postseason you really only need a top 6.5-7 guys like Denver proved. I get the Porzingis questions but as the 3rd guy idk, It's more health concerns for me. I don't get the age stuff with Horford because he was 35 2 years ago. if you have questions about him then you have to have similar concerns with Brook. Kornet isn't a playoff player but you can live with him and they like him for some reason in the regular season. They need one of Brisset, Lamar Stevens, Walsh, Hauser to pop. I think Prichard is also fine. Jrue replaced all of the Smart questions and is probably a better shooter(not in the postseason apparently) takes care of the ball and plays Dame probably better than anyone in the league. It's not perfect but glad Brad went for it and am excited for the season.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
I feel like the only thing the sucks for Boston is you’re losing Brogdon, Smart, Williams, and Williams for Jrue and Porzingis. I feel like in a way you lose a chunk of depth, especially in the front court, and versatility by swapping 4 high level role players for 2. I don’t really doubt other guys can step in an fill some minutes, and starters eat more minutes then they maybe would have otherwise trying to divide them all up, but it sure would be nice for them if somebody with some juice left would hit that buyout market just for a bit of reassurance.
Just on the surface, I think Jrue and Porzingis are better than any player they lost. Rob is interesting because he, IMO at least, provides defensive and interior value that it’s just hard to quantify.. but the offensive punch they get from Porzingis (if healthy) should be enough to outweigh that IMO.
I’ve thought for awhile they’ve needed a new PG.. and I felt like White at his best was the better player for them out of the Smart, White, Brogdon trio. I understand Smart has leadership qualities and all that which might surpass what you see on the floor/on the box score, but with a new identity going forward I think they held on to the best player of that group while adding a guy in Jrue who is substantially better than all of them and fills a legitimate need too. He and Horford have a ton of experience and vet presence, and losing Smart should allow Tatum to really take over that “this is my team” vocal role.
I know rumors were that Brogdon wanted out once they tried to trade him, part of me wonders if Rob maybe wanted out too once they added Porzingis.. especially if he was told he wasn’t going to be a starter, or might lose minutes. Not sure if that’s the case but if they both wanted out I think Boston did about as well as they could possibly do. There aren’t many players of Jrue’s caliber that aren’t the type to want a huge role and lots of touches, I don’t feel like Jrue disrupts anything in that sense.
I feel like Jrue had some inconsistencies in the Bucks playoff runs, a big reason they went for Dame.. but some of those inconsistencies I feel like also stemmed from Giannis and Middleton also having big inconsistencies.. as good as Giannis is (which you could possibly say he’s the best player breathing right now) he’s one of the only guys at his level that can look like peak Shaq for a game, or long stretch of minutes but then also look like Ben Simmons the next game or stretch of minutes.. while you expect guys like Middleton and Jrue to pick up slack in those moments I feel like those struggles had a tendency to trickle down in a sense and you’ve have stretches where Giannis maybe wasn’t making the game all that “easier” for those guys.. I don’t see that happening in Boston, there is just too much firepower, too much shooting, from literally every spot on the floor.Comment

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
Okay?
Not sure how this move benefits either side, Bullock probably wanted more than just the veteran's minimum.
Definitely thought he was going to one of Boston, Milwaukee or Philadelphia. Didn't have Houston on my bingo card.

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
From what I understand Boston isn't allowed to sign anyone in the buyout market now after being over the 2nd tax apron.

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
And it's not like they have a need at wing. They already had a logjam at SF/PF. He made more sense for teams like Boston, Philly, and Bucks where they all need wing depth. Guess he wants to stay in TexasComment

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
Correct. They do still have a lot of picks to play with though if they can cobble enough salaries together to make some trades.

I actually don't like Boston's moves at all. I gotta say I love what Portland is building. They may end up winning the trade when it's all said and done.

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
OG Anunoby said he pranked Lillard by welcoming him to Toronto via text days before any sort of deal happened with the Bucks.
Shams tweeted out a deal with Raptors getting Lillard that he deleted as it wasn't true.
It's all connected!Comment
