That's the point I'm trying to make.

Wait, wait, wait.
Weren't some people here ALL season long saying how Miami sucks as a team? How they couldn't beat the best teams in the League?
And now people are giving Wade's team some props?
Make up your minds.Comment

Good lord get over yourself. I'm not trying to make anyone look stupid. You're just trying to make some argument where there is none.
How can you not understand that anyway? It makes perfect sense, if you watch basketball. You'd know that players like Antoine, when they fall in love with the outside shot, they stop going inside and going to their bread and butter.Comment

Re: Am I the only one who would take Wade over Lebron?
Originally posted by NovaStarI am not disounting Lebron at all. I am merely raising Wade. Wade has separated himself from Lebron, Carmelo etc... By his great performance in the eastern finals and finals. Lebron leading his team over the washington wizards in no way compares to leading your team down 2 games heading towards being down 3 games, in the finals against what most would consider a superior team. I agree with the people that are of the mindset that "greatness is found in the championship games". What Dwayne wade did in this year finals has set him on the road to greatness, Lebron has yet to travel this road. Again, I am not saying that he won't, but he has to get there first. It takes a certain mind set and spirit to lead your team to a ring, Wade has shown me that, Lebron has shown me that he might have it as well, he just has to get a better team around him, I do realize that is a part of it. But if he does not get a better team around him, he can't lead anybody anywhere. When and if he gets that team, can he lead it to a championship, this remains to be seen. We have all seen Wade do it. That is why I choose Wade. Everything else concerning the two is a toss up.
And you say you aren't discounting Lebron, yet you say he's just another big money guy yet to realize his potential. To me, that's discounting him. So, is calling him another KG, as KG has shown he cannot take a game over when it matters, while Lebron has shown that he can.
Anyway, I see your points, and I can't argue with taking Wade over Lebron, I just question the reasoning I hear sometimes.Comment

1. Duncan

3. Billups
4. Wade
Correct? Because I don't see how with your logic it could be any other list.
So what is it? Does Bron make them better, or do guys like Z and Jones suck?Comment

Originally posted by The SoldierThe only point is that you're a Marquette fan. If Lebron went there and Wade didn't you'd be arguing that Lebron is the best player.
So your top 4 players in the NBA are:
1. Duncan
2. Shaq
3. Billups
4. Wade
Correct? Because I don't see how with your logic it could be any other list.
Because they both absolutely must be mutually exclusive!
You should apply your logic to the discussion, then maybe you could understand and follow along better. The discussion topic is and I quote "Am I the only one who would take Wade over Lebron". Following this question logically (since you seem to be concerned with logic) it would seem relevant then that the winning of championships etc...would apply to why I would take Wade over Lebron not who I think the best players in the NBA are, see that would be another question...logically speaking of course. Between Wade and Lebron, Wade is ahead of lebron because he has done something of a great magnitude that Lebron has yet to do, that being he has shouldered the burden of a champion and led his team to a championship. Does that make logical sense to you?
Now if you want to know who I think the best players in the NBA are right now I will give you my top 3:
1.Kobe (champion)
2.Wade (champion)
3.Lebron(future champion maybe)Comment

Originally posted by billmaticI think the whole "road to greatness" thing is a bit overstated. As important as mindset and spirit are to lead your team to a ring, I think having the right team around you is more so. Wade has the team, Lebron does not, so I would expect him to have more success.
And you say you aren't discounting Lebron, yet you say he's just another big money guy yet to realize his potential. To me, that's discounting him. So, is calling him another KG, as KG has shown he cannot take a game over when it matters, while Lebron has shown that he can.

I am definitely not discounting Lebron or KG for that matter. If I used the words "just another big man" then I misstated what I meant. Lebron and KG are (in KG's case were) Prodigy's, young geniuses of the game. If neither never wins a championship it will have to be defined as a disappointing career. Lebron can take a game over, my point is until he takes a game over or series over that leads to the ring, Wade sits higher. Wade has taken a whole championship series over to get his team the ring. No accomplishment sits higher in team sports, that is why it is special when you see a player do it. Wades performance was one of the best seen in a NBA finals in quite a long time...not since Jordan.
We can't say that Lebron can do this or not because he has yet to do it. Do I think he can? Of course, but what I think doesn't matter. He has to do it.Comment

Re: Am I the only one who would take Wade over Lebron?
Originally posted by The SoldierBut Duncan and Billups have both been better about leading their team to championships than Wade has been. Certainly you'd have to rank them above Wade if that's the standards you're using.
My standard is killer instinct, and the ability to raise your level to get the ring. Billups, had a great team, so he didn't actually shoulder the burden of the pistons winning or losing. One game it would be rip, one game rasheed, one game chauncey. Tim in his first victory won in a shortened season, with his second he still had david robinson who defended the toughest big man on his the opposing team. But he did do his thing. The last one they won, the mvp should have went to ginobili.
In Wade's case, this is his first one, he in no question led that team to the ring doing jordan type performances, plus he has the instinct that the great ones have. Kobe has it as well, Lebron has to show that he has it too. I think he does.Comment

Re: Am I the only one who would take Wade over Lebron?
Niether Duncan nor Billups avg 34 pts per game in a finals
Billups, had a great team, so he didn't actually shoulder the burden of the pistons winning or losing.
Lebron has to show that he has it tooComment

And if Gary Payton doesn't hit his shot at the end of Game 3, and the refs don't give Wade that phantom foul at the end of Game 5, the Mavs could be champs right now. Would that make Wade less of a player? I don't think so, and I don't think the fact that his team got the ring makes him more of one.Comment
