Will Bynum has been a pleasant surprise for the Pistons. I am amazed at his ability to get his shot off among the trees whenever driving to the basket. I've yet to see a layup from him that's been blocked. He's been making the right decisions on what to do the ball while making those drives too.

Bynum was also on the court when the Pistons played a 3-guard lineup against Kings last night and did a fantastic job. The Kings couldn't take advantage of the small backcourt of AI and Bynum during the 4th quarter. In this lineup Rip slid over to the SF spot while Tay was PF and Sheed was the C.

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons 2007-08 Thread***

During the 4th quarter while the Pistons played their 3-guard lineup, the Kings were constantly running high pick & roll plays with Beno Udrih handling the basketball and either Spencer Hawes or Jason Thompson setting a screen. They were drawing switches with intentions to get Bynum matched up with either Hawes or Thompson down in the post once the Piston defenders make their rotations. Bynum did a great job in being active and not getting caught in that situation. He disrupted things, forced some deflected passes, and just plain made it tough for him to be pinned behind whenever either of those guys tried to establish position on the low block.

Sheed was the real anchor of the defense, though. He was outstanding controlling the inside. The Pistons wouldn't have won the game last night without his effort.

Same for me man. I really undervalued him but he's a real solid player. I am liking this faster, new look Pistons squad. It's amazing how one player changes the pace of an entire team. Iverson looks like a good fit. With Bynum and Stucky getting better and better, I am hoping it lasts for while; it'll be an interesting off season.

Oh and good to see Sheed play his azz off last night thumping those Fakers.
          PS: You guys are great.

Anyone see that foul by Shaq tonight when he layed out Stuckey? He got a flagrant 2 and was tossed, he says it wasnt dirty but I have no doubt it was dirty since it was clearly in retaliation for the elbow that Iverson tagged Nash with earlier. The two plays are nowhere near the same in severity but Shaq isnt a very smart guy so it doesnt surprise me in the least.

I honestly thought that Shaq didn't try to intentionally hurt Rodney Stuckey on that hard foul. It was the way Stuckey fell to the floor that made it look far worse than it actually seem. Stuckey's face slamming hard on the floor on the fall made the foul look really vicious.

I don't think Shaq would've been ejected if he had tried to grab and hold on to Stuckey after bringing the arms down, so to avoid having Stuckey crash on the floor after the hit.

Cavs and C's up next. Should be a great test for the squad, after being humbled by the Suns.

Going 3-1 on the West trip isn't shabby.

Michael Curry might as well go ahead and start Kwame Brown from here on out. The team has gotten off to good starts whenever he gets the nod over Amir Johnson. Plus Amir still has issues picking up too many fouls quickly. A few of the bench guys have been struggling a bit with the exception of Will Bynum and Arron Afflalo. This group needs to step it up like they had during the opening home games earlier this season.

And could one of you mods erase the year from this Pistons thread title? Like I had said before, this is supposed to be a timeless thread.

Good news: McDyess has informed the Pistons that he's coming back.

Bad news: I find it hard to believe that he's going to make that big of a difference on a team that just got blown off their own floor by Minnesota.

I guess it's time for rebuild... Goodbye to the 2004 champs, it was great watching you guys. Now, without Wallace and Billups, this is not the same team anymore. I'll be waiting to see what Dumars is going to build in 2-3 years...
