    Official Boston Celtics Thread

We learned very little from this game. All our flaws are still there. We desperately need front court help. Let's win a playoff series first before we try to present a challenge to the Cleveland's of the world. Nothing wrong with being the 3rd best team in the East, but let's prove that is who we are before worrying about any ECF hopes.

LOL @ autocorrect changing Blatt to latte in my last post.

You know what would be nice? A center who can rebound. For my own sanity at least. Our opponents constantly grabbing offensive rebounds is driving me mad.

Sources told ESPN that the Boston Celtics let the Knicks know they have no interest in Anthony. There were exploratory talks between the teams last season.
The Clippers are exploring a trade for Knicks star Carmelo Anthony without including one of their Big Three, according to a report. Anthony has a no-trade clause in his contract.

I think Ainge might try to get Paul George. Bird is the leader of the Pacers & he & Ainge have a great working relationship. Maybe he can pull that off. I'd say Crowder would be one of the players to go though if we made a trade like that for George. We do need another top notch player to take us over to the top to beat Cleveland.

I predict we see a minor trade for interior help, if we see a trade made at all. I do not expect a significant trade at the deadline. Not only involving the Celtics, but league wide.

I am however excited to read all the juicy trade rumors that never come to fruition.

Avery Bradley, Jaylen Brown and 2017 Nets pick as the centerpieces in a trade for Jimmy Butler. Do you make the deal?

That doesn't sound too bad for getting Butler. It's going to take more than our current roster to make a run at the Cavs. However, I would rather us keep Brown because I think he's going to be a decent player in the league. Maybe Bradley, Crowder or Jerebko & 2017 Nets pick for Butler instead? That sounds better to me. Thanks!

Maybe, but only if a deal for Drummond that doesn't include the Brooklyn 18 pick follows. If it's just Butler I make them choose between Jaylen or Brooklyn 17 pick, and another future first to go along with Bradley. Adding Crowder to Bradley and BRK 17 is to steep for me, as well.

I think I prefer PG13 over Butler though. I think he fits better with IT.... and of course, I would rather Hayward and both BRK picks than trading for either PG or Butler.

What happened to the rumors about Paul George? Last week it was ramping up that Ainge wanted to go after Paul George instead of Jimmy Butler. I would take either one of them but George does have a pretty serious leg injury(broken leg) that we would have to consider. George is also a little older than Butler as well.

Bottom line is we have to make some type of move or we can't beat the Cavs in a 7 game series. We might be able to take them to 7 games with our fourth quarter guru in IT but don't think we can beat them with the current roster.

I'm hoping Ainge makes some kind of move but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. If we had a little more on the inside then I would say go with what we got & run but we don't. Our big guys are mostly outside players except for Amir Johnson.

Zeller is one that I would place on the trade block in a big trade because he's just not getting enough minutes. We're paying him an awful lot to set the bench most games. When he does play he always plays well but he's limited in minutes. Might as well let him go too. Thanks!

                            From ESPN's Brian Windhorst:

10:42 a.m. ET: According to team personnel around the league, the Chicago Bulls have made every player on their roster available except All-Star forward Jimmy Butler, ESPN's Brian Windhorst said on Mike & Mike. Windhorst added that a deal for Butler will take a "premium offer" from inquiring teams. The Bulls are looking to offload Taj Gibson or Nikola Mirotic, who will become free agents this offseason.
2:22 p.m. ET: The Boston Celtics have maintained interest in Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor, Marc Stein told ESPN Radio's Mike & Mike on Monday morning. Both the New Orleans Pelicans and Portland Trail Blazers had shown interest in Okafor before making deals for other players.
Not looking likely for us to get Butler so we're going to have to consider other options like a Paul George trade or somebody else. Or, just set there & do nothing to finish 2nd in the East. Okafor isn't a good enough trade to jump us over the Cavs.

Man, I've read some many rumors that I don't know what to believe.

I've heard that PG has told Bird that he has no intentions of signing there, so they have to trade him or lose him for nothing. I've heard that Indiana isn't listening to offers on PG. I've heard that an NBA executive said that PG will be traded to Boston this week.

For Butler I've heard that the sticking point is Crowder. Chicago wants him, Bradley and BRK 17 (that's too much imo). I've also heard that Chicago is listening to offers for everyone but Bulter.

Lastly, I've heard that Hayward is split on re-signing with Utah or going to Boston. Basically, the difference maker is going to be if he makes an All-NBA team. If he does he will be eligible for the Super-Max in Utah, so he'll 100% stay there. If he doesn't then he'll decide between Boston or Utah.

Of course, all of this is just rumors and hearsay, so who knows. The only thing I know for sure is we need a rebounder this year, either someone with an expiring contract or on a low salary. If we don't then I'm not sure if we make it out of the 1st Round, especially against a team like Chicago, who would probably out rebound us by 20 each game.

I don't know if Bogut is the answer. I'm hoping for Kyle O'Quinn. Statistically, he's only of the best rebounding/shot blocking bigs and he shouldn't cost us and arm and a leg. Keep both BRK picks and take a shot at Hayward in the offseason and if that fails, then see what other deals or out there at that point.

No on Bogut for me. O'Quinn or Dedmon would be the answer for inside play & rebounding. I think Hayward stays in Utah for that big time money. We could get lucky & get him in the offseason but not likely with all of that money setting on the table for him in Utah.

If we could get a player like O'Quinn or Dedmon just to finish out this year that would help us where we are the weakest. It might be enough to compete or even beat the Cavs for this one year. But, in the offseason we've got to go get another big time FA. Horford just wasn't enough.
