    Re: Official Boston Celtics Thread

Reports are surfacing that we're going to take Tatum at #3 now. I'm sorry but no way I would trade the #1 pick of the draft for drafting Tatum. I'm sure it's based on potential & he's a bigger guy compared to drafting Fultz as a guard. I just don't understand this reasoning though.

Not liking this at all. We fought for the past few years to have chances at getting #1 picks. We get them & seem to make what I think is a stupid decision like this for a divisional rivalry & lose out on Fultz who I think one day will be a regular All-Star.

We do have more picks than anybody overall just like last season but we just wasted a chance on the #1 pick for what I personally believe is a player that's 90%+ going to be a star in this league. We even seen the guy workout twice for us. Now, Tatum worked out for us yesterday. We must now make big noise on the FA/trading block to give ourselves a chance to get above Cleveland in the East. Thanks.

Reports now are saying it's down to either Tatum or Jackson to draft at #3. I would prefer Jackson because he's more polished than Tatum. I still am aggravated at this trade. I would much rather have Fultz than either Tatum or Jackson but for some reason Ainge is a draft pick stasher for future drafts.

We could use a really good big man but Tatum is not that answer. Jackson will be a hybrid SG/SF player. Unless we address a big man via FA or trade then we have to go with what we have. Horford would be our only big man threat if this happens to be the case.

I still think we will go after Hayward pretty hard. Butler seems to be going elsewhere. PG13 the same in a possible 3-team trade. Maybe we will be that 3rd team. By the way, reports are also coming out that the Knicks are interested in trading Porzingis. I would get in on him in a heartbeat if I were Ainge. Thanks.

Ownership stated several times throughout and after the season the goal is to draft a player and sign a max contract free agent. Unless anything changes it looks like a combination of Drafting Jackson, Tatum or Isaac and signing either Griffin or Hayward is what we are looking at.

If I had it my way I'd like to see them take Tatum or Isaac and sign Griffin (and pray he remains healthy).

I personally am not with you on drafting Tatum. Yes, he's a big guy & he's very young with some potential but I don't ever see him developing into an All-Star type player.

I was all on Fultz being this though & Ainge gave that away. I am sort of with you on getting Blake Griffin if we can't get Hayward or PG13. Thanks.

Seems like we tried to get Porzingis today from the Knicks but they were asking for way too much in return. So, now it seems the #3 pick we're going to keep & it's down to Josh Jackson or Jayson Tatum.

I'm going to have to agree with you after changing my mind about drafting Tatum at #3. I originally didn't want us to draft him & take Josh Jackson instead. If we would have done that with all the guards we already had then that would probably would have been a mistake. With Tatum we get a big guy that can shoot the rock on pick & roll situations with IT or whoever.

He can also rebound very well with his length & athleticism as well. We actually really got a true big guy(muscular) in the 2nd round by drafting Ojeleye from SMU who can block shots & rebound from a muscular body already with great athleticism. I think we got 2 really good players from the draft out of this after all. Thanks.

After saying that I wouldn't get my hopes up for fireworks, I did get worked up about the Portzingis stuff (even though I knew the chances were slim). Putting that aside I'm actually super excited for Tatum. He's certainly much different than the players Ainge has taken in the past two or three drafts and that's a good thing.

I don't know too much about the second rounders, but from the highlight videos, I've watched I really like Semi Ojeleye. I also really like the German kid, Daniel Theis, who we reportedly signed last week. Our Summer League games should certainly be fun to watch with just with the signings from the last two years (although Yabu is likely to be out )

I'm going to go ahead and say that I'm not getting my hopes up about free agency, but I'd love to see some fireworks. If not, I'm still excited to see what Stevens can do with this team after the addition of Tatum.

Life as a Celtics fan is tough. There's already chatter on Twitter aboit signing Hayward, then trading for PG13 (after he signs a 3-year extension).

Wouldn't IT, Hayward, and PG13 be overkill? You would have to think there would be diminishing returns on the court, plus it doesn't help our rebounding and defensive problems. If anything I would almost rather one of those and Blake Griffin, even though Griffin seems injury prone these days.

Yabu ruled out of both summer leagues. Zizic is experiencing visa issues. Status to play in either summer league is in doubt.

I don't think we can get both Hayward & PG13 on the roster at the same time for the 17-18 season. It will be one or the other in my opinion. We really need a big guy like Blake Griffin or what about his teammate DeAndre Jordan to have as a true C? Jordan is rumored to be leaving the Clippers & we're all pretty sure that Blake Griffin will be gone.

Heck, maybe Ainge can pull off some type of trade to get both Griffin & Jordan. That would probably put us out of the running for Hayward or PG13 though.

We might be able to get one of them but not both. I would prefer PG13 because he has a defensive game that's better than Hayward. We know the defense that Jordan would bring to the Celtics. Thanks.

After crunching the numbers a bit myself I have to say that adding two max contracts is pretty much impossible. Adding one max contract and trading for PG would work since his salary for next season is only 19.5M.

We would have to trade Bradley, Crowder, and probably even Smart, then stash Yabusele for one more year to make room for PG13 + a max deal.... which seems like a lot but having four top 25-30 players on the same team would make it worth it. I'd be happy with signing one of PG13 (if extended) or Hayward, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
