That's great. He'll probably be up with the team next season. But, I'm sure there will be some additions & changes going into 2018 with that #1 pick plus possibly trading for a Jimmy Butler type player. That might be based on how we end up finishing this season though. Thanks.

        Re: Official Boston Celtics Thread

With us winning the Draft Lottery with the #1 pick what will we do with it? You guys think we keep it just like the #3 pick last year & just pick a player or do we use it for trade bait for trying to get someone like Jimmy Butler, Gordon Hayward, or some other star/superstar player?

I think if we keep it to make a pick we take Fultz from Washington. Ball is hard to pass on but we don't need anymore PG's. Fultz is an all-around player & I think a player that's going to be better than Jaylen Brown whom we got with the 3rd pick last draft. However, if we can pull off a trade to get a star/superstar player to add to what we already have then I'm all for it as long as we don't get rid of too much or the wrong players.

I would think Crowder & Bradley would be 2 player for sure that teams will be asking for in a trade & possibly Rozier or Smart as well. I think it might be best to just keep what we already have & draft a player. Forget the trading & add a player like Fultz.

We would then have 3 really good young players in Brown, Rozier & Fultz. Also, Nader from the D-league who played extraordinary this season. Unless it's Butler or Hayward for no more than say Rozier, Crowder, & Brown/Bradley then I say don't do it Danny. Thanks.

Don't trade the #1 pick for Butler or one year of PG13. Draft Fultz, sign Hayward. Profit.

I like your thinking but I see no way we get Hayward without some type of trade in return. I haven't even looked but is Hayward a RFA or UFA? If he's an UFA then that's certainly possible but if he's a RFA then no other way to get him other than a trade. Thanks.

I think he's an UFA but Utah can pay him alot more than any other team so it will be interesting.

I'm back on keep the pick train though I think Fultz is gonna be a stud.

Keep the pick unless Dell Demps drunk dials Danny Ainge from Bourbon Street offering Anthony Davis. If not take Markelle Fultz without hesitation.

Hayward has of a player option of around 16M, if he doesn't take it then he's unrestricted. I can't remember the exact specifics. but if I recall correctly, if money is his thing then he signs the player and waits one year to sign long term because that's when he will be eligible for the Super Max.

Agreed. In my opinion, Fultz and JB are the future. The list of players that I would trade them for is pretty short. If it's not a bigman (AD or KAT), or a great two-way SF (Giannis or Kawhi) under 25, then I say roll with what we have. Maybe that's homerish, but typically point guards who are good enough to go #1 aren't busts, so I'm high on Fultz.

Yep I'm not doing for anyone not named Anthony Davis, Greek Freak, KAT, Kawhi, a player of that ilk. Guy on a long term deal and is a young top 15/20 player in the league.

Agree with most of what you said.

Did any of you all watch the Spurs-Warriors game last night? At the halftime show Sir Charles said Boston should draft Ball instead of Fultz because we can't afford what IT is going to be asking come his next contract. Is he crazy or what? We can afford the max on him & another player like a Hayward.

I don't agree with most things he says anyhow but for him to say that he clearly wasn't looking at the CAP space in the right way for Boston. He said the next IT contract would be in the $200 million range. No way! There's no way it will be that much money unless it's a 10-yr deal. If IT signs a 5 yr contract it won't be over $125 million anyhow. I think IT wants to stay in Boston.

We pay him that type of contract & he's gonna stay & it's not for a long long period of time. Add to that signing Fultz & having Brown is only going to sure up our competitiveness for years to come. That's if IT does stay like I believe he will. Ball might end up being really good but he's not proven & his Dad wants him to play for the Lakers anyhow. We're fixing to find out if we have enough now to get us over the hump of the Cavs.

If not, then we have to get one star/superstar in FA or via trade to give us a chance at beating those guys. However, I in no way would trade Brown or Fultz. It would have to be from players like Rozier, Mickey, Zeller, Bradley, & Crowder even though I'm really liking the play of Bradley & Crowder during the playoffs this season.

Paul Pierce just now on ESPN said in his opinion Boston should trade the #1 pick for a player like Butler, PG13, or Gordon Hayward. He says we only have a 3-4 year window for a title so go for it now.

I love me some Paul Pierce but I personally think we have quite a few more years than 3-4 for a possible championship. Especially if we can sign IT back.

Are we going to win any games in this series guys? I said Cavs in 5 games so I picked us to win one but I'm not too confident about that now. They are just overwhelming us in every phase of the game. Now, looks like we might not have IT for possibly the rest of the series due to a hip injury. Unless the Cavs have an off game I don't see us winning a single game.

This is where that extra star/superstar type player or two to go along with IT to get us over that hump. We just don't have it. LeBron, Love, & Irving are 3 superstars on one team. We have only one superstar. Even Korver could be placed into the star category with just his 3 pt shooting & Tristan Thompson is a great role player.

They have everything needed to win a championship but so does the Warriors. Maybe we can get both Hayward & Butler or Hayward & PG13. If we don't get players like that then we will not be at least competitive against teams like the Cavs & Warriors. We have to make those kind of moves if we want to compete with those teams for a Championship.
