The sad thing is, EA's laziness does not surprise me anymore. I am definitely getting it for $48, but unless the CAfighter is incredible, ie be able to create Wlad and Lennox, I will stick mainly to just fighting online from the choice of 3 heavyweights. No rankings, crappy career!?!?! Get a clue Kudo and EA and please have someone that understands the sport help you develop it.

I think Im gonna cry -- this blows...

Especially coming from the nerds at IGN. Having guys who have never sniffed a jockstrap saying a boxing game is too easy is never a good sign.

Yeah, that's not good.

I'll believe it when I see it. IGN is known to screw these type of things up in reviews.

But no rankings kinda stinks.

Don't get me wrong, they know the non-sports stuff. I always trust their opinion in other genres for purchases but when it comes to athletic activity, they have no idea what they are doing. They miss glaring issues everytime that are easy spots.

I agree. Their sports reviews usually suck (not always though..i've seen a great review here and there) but it doesn't mean that they have no idea about the sport.

We will agree to disagree. Based on 90% of the reviews I have read and then played the game, a person who knows the sport would have identified issues that they never do or just cannot see.

I think the problem with their reviews is the amount of time they actually spend playing the game (for example the look at the NBA2k6 xbox 360 review). It's painfully obvious by reading their reviews that the writers didn't play the game for more then a few days. That's why I never trust reviews.

True, but understanding that this is their job, they can at least get a good 10-20 hours of gametime with each title. It can only take me about 3 or 4 hours and a simmed season to sum up a title and recognize obvious flaws that they can't.

I guess so but everyone is different. It usually takes me at least a week before some flaws become obvious to me. In other words when the appeal starts going away. For example, it took me a good two weeks to start seeing flaws in NBA2k6 (current gen version). The reason being because the game had so many much great things included that it took a while to realize that it had some mistakes as well.

Yeah I know alot of people on OS and offline who are just like that. I would be playing my friend and after a few games he would start throwing that things that he doesn't like. I think the majority are just like you. Sometimes it makes me alittle mad when people start throwing out flaws on the games release date (enjoy the game people!!!!) but I can understand it. I'm like that with music and it tics some people off.

I'm more skeptical of this review now. I just tried what he did on the demo. I took Hopkins and just stood there. Jones threw 77 punches, threw a ton of hooks and uppercuts and only missed 1 punch.

That's promising, but I don't see how they could screw up and I don't know why they'd lie about it.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy and respect great games and movies. However, not having something as simple and needed as a ranking system in career mode is like going through COD2 with just a pistol. It makes no sense whatsoever and there is no logical explanation for it. It is just flat out incompetence or laziness.
