Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
I agree; that's the problem I'm having right now. I tried putting up the offensive awareness and defense is all the way up. Might want to tweak with the toughness slider.Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Ank & Ben's Champion Simulation Sliders
Difficulty: Champion
Length: 2 minute Rounds ( CPU average punch 50 but 3 mins can increase it; it's optional)
Foul Awareness: 10
Damage Awareness: 10
Boxer Power: 6 (Original was 8 which I felt was too high. Too much power results in short fights and an unrealistic balance. I saw jabs stunning me with barely any health.)
Boxer Speed: 3 ( 3 keeps the CPU in range to throw punches. Any higher and the CPU drops it's punch count. Plus the lower the speed, the less counters you eat from CPU.)
Physical Damage: 9 (I still think 9 is too much but because power was dropped to 6; I felt 9 was a good number. I'll try to test a full 12 round fight and determine the final number.)
Toughness: 3 (2 was the original number but I felt 3 had better results.)
CPU OA: 0
CPU DA: 10
CPU PO: 10 (trust me, this is a great number. You won't notice the CPU throwing so much punches unless your a slugger.)
After discussing Benicio's sliders I felt they were a bit too wild for a real boxing. Too much power, really fast and not enough punches thrown by CPU. I first started testing with speed and felt lowering the number would make the CPU throw more punches. It does seem kinda weird because if you raise the speed the CPU punches more faster which means more punches thrown right? WRONG! The slower the speed, the more normal the game feels and the easier it is for the CPU to chase you around the ring if you're a strategic fighter like me. This allows the CPU to throw punches rather then chase and do nothing. After adjusting the speed, the CPU still didn't throw enough punches. So I raised the output by 10 and decided to work down from there. I guess I didn't have to touch it.
I also felt the power was too much. I was getting stunned by jabs and knocked out by straights. It felt unrealistic since I never walk into punches. The rounds never lasted past 3. It was either me or the CPU winning by TKO. I decided 6 was the best number and allowed you to stretch the fights to later rounds. However, first round stuns are still there if you can counter with your boxers special punch. These sliders will make you a better counter puncher forcing you to work hard for your knock out early in the rounds.
Last but not least; the damage sliders. We had this at 10 which I felt was a bit too much. Getting cut up early in the first round didn't make sense. I went ahead and took it down a notch. I might be going down to 8 depending how the testing works out in 12 rounds.
Ok, start testing and letting me know how it all works out. Please do let me know what type of boxer you are. These sliders are good for strategic boxers, not the mindless "I want to be like Mike" sluggers who'll probably find themselves on the canvas if not too careful.
I had gotten knocked out twice in the middle rounds, but I was still lighting my opponent up. Only reason I got knocked out is because I was getting greedy. Once I got back into picking my spots I started to regain control and then I finally finished my opponent off in the 9th. We were both in the 500 for punches thrown and the score cards had my winning by 1 on 2 cards and the other we were tied.
Great job with the sliders my manI love me some me....Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
I have power set to 6 but it really should be either 7 or 8. My friend who's a professional boxer wrote this to me after I asked him about counter punches.
Yes, counter punching does hurt. You don't see the punch coming. Counter punching does more damage early in the fight because of the timing. I'm a counter puncher and I know that out of my 50 amateur fights, I've knocked out at least 30 guys and in amateur; it's very hard to knock someone out; so my counter punching did it. I must say; Jabs on the other hand for me is over rated because I don't think it does any damage but it's great to setup power shots. Uppercuts work because like I said earlier; if you don't see the punch coming then your getting KO'd.Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
I have given mine a re-work, dropped down to pro because I dont think I should be having all out battles with guys 10 points lower than me in overall rating constantly.
Difficulty: Pro
Length: 3 minute Rounds
Camera Wide
HUD Off
Foul Awareness: 10
Damage Awareness: 10
Boxer Power: 8
Boxer Speed: 5
Physical Damage: 8
Toughness: 7
CPU OA: 5
CPU DA: 10
CPU PO: 2
These are what I'm going with in my legacy - I really dont think it lets you play a true 3 minute round in legacy though, so keep that in mind. I'm playing as Tyson, so I have crappy reach and am constantly trying to stay inside. I do not bang the whole time, I try to pick my spots.
Does this set of sliders let me knock lesser opponets heads off? - YES. And I have have had some decisions too. I just had a fight with Samuel Peter (CAB) last night and I only stunned him once, in the first round. Never again in the entire fight and never knocked him down. My Legacy tyson is rated overall an 84, and he knocked me down twice. I did win a unanimous decision - and that might be my only concern with these so far. I wonder if I could truely lose in a decision on this level? Punch stats look good to me, between 55 and 65 punches per round for the cpu. Im still fluctuating between 2 and 3 on the punch output.
Sum it all up, I have had some good knockout with these - I get good damage, I get frequent stuns, though I do have a hard time finishing them off (probably tysons reach) and I get stunned when I dont defend myself. I have seen a person get knocked down five times in a fight (stayed down the 5th time) and I have seen them knocked down as little as two times and get coounted out. I have yet to see a true one pucnh knockout - though I get good flash KD's.
Oh, and with 100 stamina im pretty gassed by the end of a fight, especially a tough one.
Anyway, figured I'd update, see what feedback others had...

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Power 10
Speed 6
Damage 10
Toughness 10
Offense 0
Defense 10
Output 10
Three rounds later the CPU had a higher amount of punches landed, higher percentage, and I had been knocked down twice mainly due to the counter effect. I switched to this:
Power 0
Speed 5
Damage 0
Toughness 0
Offense 0
Defense 10
Output 10
Things still weren't quite even. The only thing that happened was no one was getting hurt. I fought again with the all 65 and all 75 guy to see the effects of other sliders and 10 power and 10 toughness do not cancel each other out. I ended up with the settings below and my talented fighter was more talented. I switched fighters and I had a hard time using the all 65 fighter. Basically speed causes more counters by the cpu as they can block faster. Defensive AI causes them to simply block better in comparison to your punching speed. Here is where I am at right now. but it's likely to change:
Power 6
Speed 5
Damage 8
Toughness 7
Offense 0
Defense 7
Output 10
I will fight a few and let you know how they end up.Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Ugh, I just got my arse KO'd in the 4th against Tommy Morrison. God that makes me mad. But, atleast the sliders arent too far off, he is rated better than me. He hits like an anvil too. I do think I'm going to lower the physical damage to 7, cuts happening a little early.WesmanY2k - Xbox 360

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Does toughness affect the difficulty of the mini game, or does it simply determine how many times a guy falls to the ground?Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Nah, Damage effects that(mini game)
Toughness effect how a boxer can take a punch...low= more stuns, high = less and of course power will effect toughness....Basically toughness is how much health is taking from you after a punch....the manual says Damage is cuts, swelling and the ability to get up and of course all of the sliders with tie together...
Im thinking about putting speed and toughness at 5Last edited by Jukeman; 07-01-2009, 02:12 PM.Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
I like how my sliders play out especially in fight now and while also doing cpu vs cpu but in my legacy- I cant get a KO for the life of me, maybe becuz of my power.....Im thinkng about testing with power at 5 speed at 5 and toughness at 0....could someone test that with my sliders?Comment
