Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
I like damage at seven...its more realistic but not too uncommon to have a cut.
My next fight I'll use six for power/def AI and output.Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Yeah, you still get a good bit, but you aren't getting swollen by round 2 by several jabs. I'd say 7 or even 8 will work.Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Hmmm...I'm not getting swollen by round 2 with it at 10. Maybe this is just a question of style. Because I'm not having a big problem with getting countered on the jab either.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
If i throw a jab at the head it's 50% it gets timed and countered. I don't care if he's stunned. Doubling up is especially risky.Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Interesting. I usually follow a jab with an opposite-hand straight or a hook from either hand, maybe that makes a difference. And yes, he will definitely throw punches when he's stunned, so you have to be careful.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

Try these Parker, these are pretty good. Found them on the EA board. Had my best fight in legacy in some time.

I might. I don't know, I don't want to get back into tweaking again.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

That's my biggest gripe and why toughness compared to power is a huge deal. That's why I love 5/2 the best so far.Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
I have just returned from 2 weeks holiday and will be getting back to my Legacy career. Just wanted to say a quick thanks to Shaun & Parker for continued updates and tweaking of the sliders. I don`t get chance to post much but I have enjoyed trying and using both of your slider sets. I was really enjoying this game before I went away. What a year for sports games FNR4, Tiger 10 (much improved), Madden and possibly the best to come in NHL10 and Fifa 10 - I don`t even really like EA but there community focussed approach is producing some cracking games which can often be tuned to be more simulation based.
So just a few words of Thanks to say we are reading and appreciating your efforts on these - I always get lost with sliders so it helps when you chaps bring some focus to it.

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Well if you're interested I did some more tweaking to my Champion set.
Honestly, I think this game is going the way of NCAA and Madden for me. I've spent SO much time tweaking sliders that it's destroyed my enjoyment of the game. It's a great game, but the tiny flaws are just glaring now after hours and hours of scrutiny.
I think I'm gonna set it on default, get my achievements, and trade it in.

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
I already did that yesterday... the slider messing ruined the game for me. I had no pleasure whatsoever playing it...
It´s a shame because it had the potential and grafically the game is amazing, but when you need to tweak so much you start to over-analyze and see bad things everywhere.Comment

I may have found a great slider setting!!!
The only issue I am having is getting the connect rate down, but as far as everything else (knockdowns, jab counters from timed block, cuts/swelling, punch count, etc.) I am having a blast. I haven't committed to a certain set just yet, but I am using a variation of these and getting good, tough fights with realistic damage and and a CPU that flurries at times and defends smartly. My opponent will block a jab more than time blocking it, countering more on weaves and dodges, which is ok with me. Please test these out and tell me what you think. I took several CAB's, gave them all the same attributes (90 in everything, putting the rest in heart) and made their height/reach/stance/blocking/punch style suit their boxer AI. I created one CAb for each available boxer AI. So far each one fight according to their AI. I fight one fight each with a different slider setting for each fighter. So far I find the below setup the best, based on my findings. I just need help testing them out. Here they are:
2 minute rounds
Champion (Pro in bold)
Ref sliders - both 10
Power 10
Speed 2 Higher speed = more counters/timed blocks.
Damage 3 (Damage more dependent on power)
Toughness 8
Accuracy 0
Stamina 5
Cntr Window 0
CPU OFF AI 0 (9)
CPU DEF AI 0
Punch Output 0 (10)
I am still testing, but it's where I am so far. I am finding the thing to getting a good fight is balance. My first priority was lessening the timed block on the jab as much a possible without making the CPU stupid. I have noticed even on pro the CPU will block spam against a jab to the head, especially with DEF AI higher. The timed block against the jab is my biggest complaint on the game offline. Second was the inability to hit someone in a weave animation, but that's been solved for the most part, as I have actually gotten flash KO'd and flash KO'd someone with an uppercut during a weave. I will move on to licensed boxers shortly to see how these effect them and how closely they fight to their style. I will post numbers to try to show data. I am a believer in the scientific theory, lol.
Also know I am by nature a defensive fighter/counter puncher that relies on the jab, avoids punches and looks for openings. I will take a decision in a heartbeat if it means I win instead of risking a KO by pressing for it. If I hurt my opponent I will go in for the kill, but I prefer wearing down my opponent, boxing tactically and staying outside. When using the CAB's I do fight their style as much as I can, but the above style has been my way of fighting since KO Kings on the PS One. I'll post results later. I would appreciate any feedback.Comment
