      Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread

What this game REALLY needs is separate power sliders for the human and CPU.

If I set it high enough where my power really makes a difference, and he happens to survive into the 7th through 10th, I get knocked out because one punch in the later rounds is enough to win it for the CPU. But if I set it low enough that that doesn't happen, I can't score a knockdown, even with somebody like Tyson or Foreman. They take punch after punch after punch and don't go down.

The other thing that is annoying on Champion is that, when you're stunned, you might as well forget about clinching, because you simply can't.

        Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread

Overall I still enjoy PRO as I get my most realistic matches and if it gets to easy I raise the speed which lessens my reaction time and it forces me to Box for openings .
EAs getting pretty good with patches so maybe some of these issues will be addressed .
I personally dont care but its fun seeing all the different sliders/breakdowns people create and discuss.
So Im offically tweaked out and im just gonna play and enjoy this game as its just so dam fun plus Legacy is very deep .
I might even have to go online lol just to unlock all the game gear .

Yep its tough but you can do it on Pro as well as the special move which is impossible on Champion.

Tip On Champion clinching when stunned I push then try and clinch and I can normally hold on.
Not saying it works all the time but its my best bet.

            Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread

I am with you Parker. Pro is too easy and Champion is too hard. There should be another difficulty some where in the middle or they should just change the difficulty of Champion level.

I have messed with sliders all day long just like you have and there is no way to truly get a real "Sim" experience where you are not sure if you will win the fight.

The game has some major issues that are starting to appear after going through my second legacy. I think the game has so much potential but they missed some key elements to truly make this game what we all expected from it.

Legacy mode is not as finely tuned as I thought it would be. The e-mail system is ridiculous and pointless. The fact that you cannot move up and down in weight classes whenever you want kinda sucks. The clinch game doesn't allow you to get punches in. The ring announcer is terrible...I can barely hear him. The physical cuts and swelling are not well done. All cuts that I have seen are below the eye...they always look the same. It needs more detail.
I would have loved to see more ratings as well. Individual punch ratings for example (almost like MLB 09 the show).

How they make sliders without including a Stamina slider is beyond my comprehension. Let us fine tune this game to get it right. I think we all want the opportunity to recreate the sport properly and realistically. Hopefully they will include something in DLC to allow us to get this game right because it has some tons of potential.

In the meantime I am still fine tuning pro sliders to try to get it to be more of a challenge but until we are given the right tools there is no way we will be able to get sliders to accurately represent the sport of boxing.

Sorry for the long post but I had to vent to someone who understands my frustrations. I had very high expectations for this game and maybe that is the problem.

What type of problems are you guys having on champion? I'm still fine tuning my sliders and they seem to work fine. I already told you guys from a professional boxers point of view; there will be knock outs early in the round if your not careful. The problem with the game is defense. I don't think it's easy to defend yourself thus allowing you to counter well. In real boxing, if your hit with a counter it'll do a lot of damage. Check it out once more and you'll understand why we play on Champion. Stick and move; you'll be fine. No matter what happens, you'll always win by decision if you can survive 10 rounds. The game is not broken, we're just waiting for stamina sliders.

A message from Sammy Merza aka Mr. 187
Yes, counter punching does hurt. You don't see the punch coming. Counter punching does more damage early in the fight because of the timing. I'm a counter puncher and I know that out of my 50 amateur fights, I've knocked out at least 30 guys and in amateur; it's very hard to knock someone out; so my counter punching did it. I must say; Jabs on the other hand for me is over rated because I don't think it does any damage but it's great to setup power shots. Uppercuts work because like I said earlier; if you don't see the punch coming then your getting KO'd.

You pretty much pegged it. There's really no defense outside of the counter. The punch tracking by the CPU is too accurate, so the connect percentages are far too high. If you do happen to block, then it's an instant counter. Unless you stick and move, then every fight becomes a slugfest that ultimately ends in the CPU knocking you out. And I'm sorry, but fighting like Ali with LaMotta or Tyson is just stupid. There needs to be an inside game that doesn't involve haymaker uppercuts connecting at 90% for both player and CPU.

My biggest problem is that either fights go the distance or they end in knockouts (depending on the power slider) but I can't find a setting that will allow for both.

I wish they'd just get rid of the counters and haymakers and all that stupid special move crap. This is boxing, not Tekken.

I disagree with a lot of that - cuts above the eye happen, just not as much. Someines they are hard to see because of the eyebrow, but they are there. I have even seen gashes on peoples nose. Swelling is cool, Seen peoples eyes all round and swollen shut. I have seen HUGE cuts that lead to fight stoppage. Exactly what is the issue with stamina? Is it that the CPU doesnt get drained enough? Thats my issue - I dont connect or block enough punches to get the large bonuses for the training games that the CPU gets (when playing a highly rated boxer) so after about 9 rounds (even with 100 stamina rating - I can barely through a good punch. I also think that constantly trying to find the PERFECT set of sliders is a lost cause and makes a lot of people end up hating truley great games (see Sig), which I think this is.

What people really seem to be overlooking is that different boxers are programmed to behave differently, so you will see a large variance of punches and what not based on that programming. I am satisfied with a few different sets I have tried - I really liked Jukes with high speed for heavyweights - untill I played middleweights... Then the punches were WAAY to fast.

The problem I am having now seems to differ from alot of people here: In my legacy using my sliders on pro, I am now ranked 4th in the world... and my next fight is shannon briggs (CAB). I have fought this fight 3 times and turned the system off after a 10 rd decision each time - cause it was almost 10's across the board for briggs. I conceed, he won, but I dont agree with the judges. People are saying they cant lose? I wish I couldnt lol.

I however, am really not disappointed at all in this game. At some point we have to find a good balance, that we can live with, and stop trying to achieve the perfect one, because that will differ for everyone.

Im still having a blast with this game on Champion mode. I tried playing G.O.A.T but I fought Lennox Lewis 4 times and he threw 90 punches in the first 5 rounds of nearly every fight and still had a bunch of stamina. I personally have seen fights go every way with on Champion. I've seen the ref stop a fight due to a massive cut, I've come back after trailing the entire fight to win by a decision and a knockout, even the CPU has even done that to me. Every fight hasn't been the same for me and im loving it.

Fellow Slider Guru's and Gamers I am just average. I play on pro, but I want a true sim exp, but not a hard one. I'm looking for realism. I have a hell of a time with Tyson/Ali/Leonard winning against "BUMS". Any recommendations on a good slider set for a probably below average boxing gamer. Thanks

I got it! I got it! I got it!

All this time, I was working the wrong direction with the Power slider.

I just knocked out Eddie Chambers in the 2nd round with Mike Tyson, on a non-counter left hook to the cheek. He wasn't even stunned, he just went down and never got back up.

I followed that with a thing of BEAUTY. A battle of lightweights - Chico Corrales (86 OVR) vs. Arturo Gatti (86 OVR). It was back and forth the entire fight Gatti continuously encroached and I continuously pegged his right eye with my long jab. In the end, I threw too many punches in the mid rounds and ran out of gas. He out-scored me in the 9th and 10th to force a DRAW. Yes, that's right - a 95-95 draw! Each of us was only stunned ONCE.

They work even after 3/4 of a bottle of wine.

I just won a unanimous decision with Joe Calzaghe against Tomas Adamek. I got caught twice and knocked down, once in the 3rd and once in the 9th, but I managed to get up both times, the last on a 9-count at the bell! I simply outpunched him for a 96-92 decision in which I landed an astounding 618/945 punches. Felt like a real Calzaghe fight!
