Funny stuff and Pac is a dirty fighter that make excuses not to be tested for PED.Comment

Re: The Hidden Side of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Williams is also capable of moving up and down between 160 and 147, and has said it wouldn't be much of an issue to go back to welterweight.
Besides, even if Floyd never had a fight at jr.middleweight, why would that excuse him from fighting P.W.?
Afterall, Floyd forced Marquez up 15 pounds to face him, why couldn't Floyd move up a measly 7 to fight a real guy?
Let's not kid ourselves either with saying things like "Shouldn't Pac fight Williams too?".
Pac has already moved up from 106. He's pushing the limits at 147.
Floyd could probably move up to 160 with his body type, and in fact there were rumblings that he weighed close to 160 for his last bout.
It's not like we're talking about 2 guys with the same body type here.
Margorita is certainly a cheater and it'll be interesting to see how he performs moving forward.
Mosley admitted to PED's and he deserves to be lambasted by fans and media alike.
However, coming out and admitting it only helps his cause in the future. He knows he's going to be tested a lot more than other boxers and he'll be under the microscope for the rest of his career. For these reasons, he's probably going to be the cleanest guy going into any fight.
If Floyd wants to save face, he'll have to go after a guy like Cintron next, then take on the winner of Mosley-Berto.
There's nobody else out there at 147 and he'll be crucified if he hand-picks another smaller opponent.
So if he's really serious about being the best in the world, he needs to look in his own backyard or move up to fight a guy like Foreman or Williams.
Anything else will only justify what I, and many other Floyd detractors have been saying for years.Comment

Williams is fighting at 154 - the same weight Floyd fought DLH at.

Williams got his arse kick when he faced someone his own size...Nuff said about him...He's only a "freak" when he's at WW....People want floyd to face him because its a sure lost for floyd..No way a defensive fighter could beat someone with that big of a reach advantage....
Imo I think Mosley is irrelavant right now and I can say Floyd thinks the same...Only way that fight is going to happen if its a big payday...But I dont see mosley beaten Berto....Comment

Re: The Hidden Side of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Very unlikely that Pacquiao or Mayweather ever will touch Williams. He is 6-1, fast, decent power and has an 82-inch wingspan -- longer than Klitschko! Way too many physical gifts for either Floyd or Manny to handle.
Always amazed me that such a big guy like Williams could fight at welterweight. Dude is a freak at 147.Last edited by pk500; 01-18-2010, 03:33 PM.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

Re: The Hidden Side of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Hatton: Inflated, slow light welterweight
Marquez: Inflated lightweight
And now he's talking about fighting Timothy Bradley, a smaller junior welterweight? Man, Floyd's courage just impresses me more every day.
Hell, why bother fighting a Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, Berto, Clottey or Williams when you can make almost eight figures fighting a smaller guy?
You're right: When it comes to smart business skills, Floyd has nothing left to prove. But when it comes to being in the ring, the zero at the end of his record is more important to him than any legacy he creates in the sport.
Just like no one considers Marciano the greatest heavyweight or Calzaghe the greatest super middleweight of all time even though both retired undefeated, no one should consider Floyd Mayweather the greatest welterweight of all time if he retires undefeated without taking on more of the bad-azzes in his own class before he quits.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

So, I can see why Floyd is "ducking" him. Mosley and Williams would be a nice fight. Why have no one clamor for a Manny and Williams fight. In all eras there are fighters that no one want to fight and you fight those guys at your own peril.Comment

Re: The Hidden Side of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
True, since he won't fight top guys anymore at welterweight. Let's look at his last two fights:
Hatton: Inflated, slow light welterweight
Marquez: Inflated lightweight

Re: The Hidden Side of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Berto's withdrawal from the Mosley fight due to the Haiti earthquake could open the door for Mosley-Mayweather. My criticism of Floyd's "duck-duck-chicken" game would stop if he accepted that fight.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

Re: The Hidden Side of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
First of all I am not a fan of Floyd.
Sugar Ray Leonard was the biggest pimp boxing has ever seen. Ray fought Hagler because he felt that he could beat Hagler. He saw a decline in Hagler skills and that was the only reason he took the fight.
Hearns/Leonard was legendary but Leonard didn't want to give Hearns a rematch. Leonard wanted Hearns to retract the statement about the first fight being stop to early. Leonard only gave rematches when the rematches fit Leonard agenda.
Ray was always bigger than the sport. Since 76 Olympics he was able to pick and choose when, where, and who fought. Everyone was on Ray schedule and yes I am a big Ray fan.
Mosley shouldn't even be able to fight again since he admitted to using PED. How is Floyd ducking Pac? Pac is avoiding drug test and now that is Floyd fault.Comment

Re: The Hidden Side of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
By the way I'm less of a fan then you are of Floyd. I remember the inside scoop (reported in Sports Illustrated I think) was that Leonard wanted Pipino Cuevas, and not Roberto Duran for a mega big money fight, but got Duran and lost. He might have had a great influence on who he fought but the first non heavyweight million dollar purse was Sugar ($1.2 million) & Wilfredo Benitez ($1 million), and I'm sure Ray would have liked someone easier (Ray wore down & Koed Benitez in the 15th of a very competitive fight), but went were the money took him. Duran was the only fighter besides Hearns who could get him the astronomical $10 million he wanted.Comment

But I think this fight will happen. Both are promoted by DLH and Mosley's a big enough name for Floyd to make a lot of money.
If this transpires, I'll give credit to Floyd for fighting a real welterweight.Comment

Re: The Hidden Side of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Floyd and Pac both started at 106...IMO, I would rather see floyd face foreman instead of williams(a opp pac passed up)
Williams got his arse kick when he faced someone his own size...Nuff said about him...He's only a "freak" when he's at WW....People want floyd to face him because its a sure lost for floyd..No way a defensive fighter could beat someone with that big of a reach advantage....

Pac's pro debut was at 106 while Mayweather's was at 130.
Of course Pac started as a 17-year old and Floyd as a 21-year old.
At 21, Mayweather was 130 and at same age Pac was 113.
Floyd's a naturally bigger man. And he's already fought at 154. So there's no excuse for him not to fight Williams.
But like pk500 pointed out, Williams is a physical freak of nature that would destroy Floyd at 147 or 154.
And the last time I checked, Williams won his last fight. I would hardly call that getting his arse kicked.Comment

Williams is given too much credit. If his last opponent had better stamina and could have strung something together after those counter rights the outcome may have been different.
I also find it odd that you feel that May has ducked Paq considering he never closed negotiations and began them about 2 days after the Cotto fight. But to each their own.Comment
