    Re: Boxing Off-Topic

I think if Matthysse didn't get that really bad cut, that Garcia-Matthysse fight might have gone differently. But ifs and buts and all...

I think Garcia is really good, I just don't ever get the sense that he's really the best guy out there at 140 or 147 or wherever he happens to be campaigning at the time. But I dunno, maybe that's just me. He's beating everyone in front of him, so I can't really argue with that.

I'm very intrigued with this bout; I've always thought Khan was huge at 140-147...this can possibly be a good scrap with two really contrasting styles. If I'm correct Khan may have the longer arms of the two and definitely the quicker feet. I bet the extra weight will allow him to also take a better shot.

I give Khan a 0% chance of winning this fight. He's exciting, so I like watching him fight, but he will be KO'd almost guaranteed. His chin just isn't up to his style.

I give him a -50% chance of winning. He'll be dizzy by the second.

Boxing is all about about money as they continue to let this middleweight charlatan fight for the 160 crown at 155.

only way Khan can win is if he doesn't get hit. 0% chance of that happening....

I like the fight. Khan could cause Canelo some problems, but he'll get caught and finished at some point.

Khan has fought mostly at 140, with just a few recent bouts at 147. Canelo will bully him. They had to offer him a lot of money to take this fight.

                            Re: Boxing Off-Topic

I’m at a loss for words.
So the MW champ is going to fight a jr welterweight contender? Who has a glass jaw?
Alvarez and DLH are officially the two biggest vagina’s in the entire sport of boxing.

Another thing, why even bother having weight classes anymore? Almost every weight class is divided by anywhere between 4 and 7 lbs. THOSE aren’t even necessary let alone adding a catchweight between a f**king catchweight!!!!

Lastly, if I haven’t mentioned it before Saul Avlarez is the biggest P-Word I’ve ever seen! Many insiders have said that Canelo is actually heavier than GGG after the weigh-in.
He is plain and simple scared out of his mind. Fine, you don’t want to have your cinnamon spilled all over the ring, then relinquish your MW belt and return to 154.
Don’t “move up” in weight to take a strap and then start picking 140-pounders to defend it against.

Honestly, I’m really growing tired of defending this sport. I’m finding myself drawn to the UFC more and more every day. I prefer boxing over MMA, but the UFC’s structure is simple, effective, and amazing.
The best are almost always fighting the best. There’s no hiding. There’s no 17 weight classes. And there’s only 1 belt per division.

I hope Alvarez and DLH choke on their panties.
                            I'm done.

Yeah, De La Hoya is only concerned about leveraging Alvarez and making it known in no uncertain terms that his fighter can do anything he wants to, including fight GGG at 155, and then giving Golovkin the short end of a 10-90 purse split.

Meanwhile the boxing organizations are fully complicit partners as long as they're getting their share.

The only disagreement I would have with you is I'm not the least bit inclined to join the MMA side as a dedicated fan.

                                LOL, I hear you.
I'm warming to it in a way. I enjoy portions of the sport.
I'll be the first to admit I don't get the ground game and it bores me.
But when two fighters stand and trade it can be very entertaining.

The biggest draw for me is how well it's run. If boxing had a similar structure, I'm not sure anyone would even be following MMA right now.

What disgusts me about boxing is how obvious some promoters have certain organizations in their back pocket.
It's no secret that DLH has the WBC at it's beck and call. Bob Arum has his teeth stuck in the WBA and so-on and so-forth.

If these organizations had any sack, and actually cared about the sport they'd incorporate some hard standards and rules:
                                1. Sanctioning Bodies will recognize one another's champs in their ratings. No more hiding from other belt holders.
                                2. No catchweights allowed in any title fight. You can't negotiate them period.
                                3. Get rid of half the recognized catchweights classes. Do we really need four divisions between 108 and 118 lbs???
I'd love to see the sport go back to the original 8 with maybe Cruiserweight added.
With that, losers like Canelo can't hide in 154 and duck anyone.

I'd add in making only one belt per division, but that'll never happen. Too much money.
I realize why orgs like the WBC allow for all this mess. They're making millions off of kick-backs and back-alley deals.
But I have to believe if there was some semblance of intelligence and dignity to these groups, boxing would flourish, which would only make everyone more money.

I love boxing. I fell in love with the sport as a pre-teen, but I can't stomach it anymore.
This farce of a bout between Canelo and Khan put me over the edge.
All the parties involved, minus Khan, should be banned from the sport forever; Canelo, DLH and the WBC.
