The good news is Ken Burns is doing a two part four hour documentary on Muhammad Ali. The bad news is it won't be released until 2021.

It's also a nice way that Conor can continue to hold on to two belts without fighting a legitimate challenger in his own sport. Dana is cool with it because he is protecting his cash cow since he only has one major ppv draw right now. And I am sure he is probably going to get half of Connor's purse. Just my opinion.

to be quite honest, the pre-fight hype will be much more entertaining than the actual fight itself.....and at least that will be free. lol.

Why? It's not a legitimate fight. It's a carnival sideshow in which McGregor would get destroyed. He's a terrible boxer.

exactly....how this mismatch can even be licensed is mind boggling. if anything, it should just be an exhibition fight or something with some of the proceeds going to a charity of each fighter's choice.

That's a good idea, then Conor could go all Thunderlips and do a takedown followed by a few Hammerfists. That would be his only chance. He'd get absolutely schooled by the sweet science if he just boxes.

That bit in Rocky 3 would probably be more entertaining then Floyd-Conor.

Freddie Roach just said that he'd like Pacquiao to fight Lomachenko at a catchweight. Given that the latter is defending his title next week at 130 and Pac has been going around 145 I'm curious what weight he's thinking.

What Freddie wants and what Bob Arum wants usually clash. Arum will continue to send Pacquiao on his retirement tour with soft touches like Jeff Horn.

Lomachenko would beat Pacquiao now. Manny no longer has the speed to cope with Loma's angles and precision. Manny can look at Loma and see himself 15 years ago.

Yeah but Lomachenko and team aren't going to compromise themselves with a 141 catchweight or whatever. Roach is probably blowing smoke.

                          Beg to differ a bit.

One, Lomachenko only started fighting at 130 last year, two weight classes below Crawford. Plus Loma only has eight pro fights, a fact conveniently forgotten by many.

Two, Pacquiao's legacy is secure. He's a first-ballot Hall of Famer who never shied away from top foes during the peak of his career. In the twilight, he's entitled to cash-and-carry soft touches like Jeff Horn.

Pacquiao and Roach can say Manny keeps fighting because he loves it, but the truth probably lies somewhere between that and Pacquiao's need for money because of his profligate spending habits.

One final point: Hardcore boxing fans like us see Loma and Crawford as stars. But in the general sports world, the only fighters who sell PPVs are Mayweather, Pacquiao and maybe Canelo. Bouts between Pacquiao and Crawford of Loma thrill us, but they cause the general public to scratch their heads and say, "Who is fighting Pacquiao?"

The general sports public has no idea who Lomachenko or Crawford is. None whatsoever. Those names are no different than Jeff Horn to Mr. Average Sports Fan.

i hate to compare the two but that's pretty much what it is...maybe conor will take of the gloves too. lol. to be honest, that is one of my favorite scenes from that movie and to see stallone do those stunts was amazing, to say the least. he was hurt pretty badly doing some of those scenes but it was very entertaining, i must say. when thunderlips tells him "that's the name of the game!", he was serious about that. even though it was never endorsed by the WWF, it brought a ton of publicity for him and wrestling.

I would agree that he is entitled to soft punchers but don't try to throw a sorry ppv that no one is buying and act like they are a top contender. He is doing no different than what Floyd was doing or is doing with the Conor fight. I agree that it is completely for money because he needs it for his political career too.
