Re: Official EA UFC 2 "Teach me how/strategy" thread
Why can't I knock anyone out standing up? Almost all of my victories in career mode have come from knocking someone down then doing ground and pound while posturing up. My stats are as follows:
Kick speed - 68/70
Punch speed - 70/70
Left hand power - 88/95
Right hand power - 88/95
Left leg power - 95/95
Right leg power - 95/95
I throw in a lot of jabs and he's bleeding pretty bad by the middle of the first round but it seems no matter what I do after that, I cannot just knock him out. Ideas?Follow me for live wrestling tweets @molarmiteComment

Re: Official EA UFC 2 "Teach me how/strategy" thread
Can someone play me in an unranked battle and tell me what I need to improve on? I'm still new to MMA in general especially the video games and I'm struggling greatly online. Any tips would be great and I figure the best way to do that would be to actually fight me.Follow me for live wrestling tweets @molarmiteComment

Re: Official EA UFC 2 "Teach me how/strategy" thread
I'd show the very basics but I'm on Playstation.
Try watching what techniques your opponents use that work against you.
By far the easiest way to learn is playing against someone with a mic. There are threads here that explain some things in detail.
As much as I hate to say it you can check out YouTube videos. check out martial minds channel, he has combo video and probably a bunch of other dumb stuff that's informative.
It's gonna be a little hard to catch up since you are new the gameComment

That is if you can't find anyone to play you on a mic. I was lucky in UFC 1, some dude with a mic performed random act of kindness and spent like a hour teaching me stuff.
When I try and teach people I use CAF and spam transitions, they learn how to sent and reverse quickly that way.Comment

Dude, best advice I have is pick some fighters you like and go to practice mode. Press pause, then select fighter moves. Pay specific attention to takedowns, clinch, sweeps, reversals, submissions, ECT. All of them should have a level assigned to them. You can look up what moves each level has.

Re: Official EA UFC 2 "Teach me how/strategy" thread
On a different front, I always struggle on the ground game. If my opponent is on top, I always try and go immediately to either half guard, full guard or the best option but it always takes me forever to get up. Meanwhile while watching UFC fights, they stay in one position for 30 seconds at a time. Should I be trying to mount an offensive attack from a defensive position or try and keep moving to an offensive attack and go against realism?Follow me for live wrestling tweets @molarmiteComment

Re: Official EA UFC 2 "Teach me how/strategy" thread
How do I release a single leg after reversing from sub side control? I cant seem to figure it out, I can see "Break" at the top of the right stick but I can never do the command as its greyed out.Comment

Against anyone who's half decent on the ground, transitioning as soon as your back hits the ground is a good way to lose stamina and when you lose stamina, that's when these guys can hurt you. Stay calm. You might be on your back, but there's a long way to go for them to finish you!
You have to be able to recognise the positions you're going into if you've been taken down, it allows you to come up with a plan before they've even made they're next move. Against a character who's speciality is the ground game, the best thing to do is get back on your feet as they'll have Submissions and Dominant Positions they can put you into that aren't always predictable - I struggle to deny submissions, but transitions I find easy.
Don't worry about them hitting you. As long as your stamina bar is full and your head isn't throbbing red, you won't get knocked out. Land a couple of your own punches to improve your Grappling advantage, then try to move into a position that allows you to get up.
The more you become familiar with the positions and the movements of the fighter on top or on bottom, the quicker you'll be able to realise what they're doing and this can allow you to deny or reverse.
I noticed going through divisions, at a certain point, a lot of players would have me in side control and continually go to the Crucifix (they can land big hits from here and it's a stamina drainer!). Unfortunately for them, this was one of the first tactics I mastered on the ground, so it was easy for me to recognise that's what he is doing and therefore deny it. Once I start denying the crucifix from side control, normally they'll then go for top mount, which my fighter can reverse from that position, then allowing me on top of them and leaving them with little stamina due to the blocked / reversed transition.
Get yourself into practice against a player with good BJJ and play Skilled Ground Moves.
Good luck!Comment

Re: Official EA UFC 2 "Teach me how/strategy" thread
Anytime I've done this I just needed to hold the direction of the Single Leg. It doesn't work all the time though because this move allows the other fighter to deny the takedown, leaving the two fighters standing up again. It works, but you'll need a significant stamina advantage or need be playing someone who doesn't know what they're doing.Comment
