Against fighters throwing constant 4 & 5 punch combos, back lunge when he initiates. That should dodge or mitigate the first 2 punches of the combo, then you can block the rest until you figure out his patterns (often people end combos the same ways over and over)

If someone is only throwing ones and twos and rarely mixing in hooks, you can side step and counter; chain the minor slips once you get his timing; slip the 1 or the 2 and straight intercept; or back lunge then block from punching or kicking range

For dealing with hooks, obviously doing the major lean back and pull countering is really effective, but one thing I’ve noticed is that rolling under punches has become much more effective as well now that straight up ducking is inconsistent. The roll unders are also easier to chain as well and can be used to dodge multiple incoming hooks.

How do you perform a takedown after you catch a kick? I'm only able to throw them to the ground without following them down. Thanks!

Okay, is the crucifix really as ridiculous as I'm experiencing it?

It seems impossible to block on reaction (even if you expect it sometimes) and if you get stuck in there with a stamina deficit, you cannot escape.

Once trapped in there I got my transition blocked once and it was pretty much over.. Eating elbows and transitioning even slower than before you got blocked because of the stamina dip.

No fakes. No way to guard. No way out?

              Or am I missing something?

they added the rock mechanic to crucifix where u fake a direction and then get a super fast transition in the opposite direction if the opposition doesnt block the fake but it can be difficult against really good players, i have found against higher level players u have to fake a direction and if they block it just eat the shots until your stamina is back up then fake the same direction as most top players expect u to switch it up and then transition in the opposite direction.

I play UT where the skill level isnt as high as ranked but u have a much bigger skill point gap but i very rarely get finished in crucifix even with a 18-20 skill point gap. If u know this my bad, it could just be the top players in ranked are so much better on the ground. I very rarely get taken down in ranked so dont have much experience

I actually didn't know this, but not because I never tried to do it, it's just that my fakes get blocked..

It's kind of ridiculous that a system built entirely on faking out your opponent allows for said fakes to be blocked as if they're real transitions.. Oh well..

Thanks for the tip though, I'll keep it in mind..

I can’t test it out right now but I’d assume that you flick the takedown input and then hold block immediately after.
