Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
One issue I have as well if anybody can help, I've had it happen to me twice tonight online.
The opponent gets right in my face and just keeps punching and punching over and over and I can't stop them. No button works. I try to block and nothing. I can't clinch, I can't punch back. They are weaker punches but after both times the fight was basically over b/c I was 1/2 a bar or less and they were fresh. Very frustrating. I punched my couch so hard my German Shepherd decided to go sleep in the kitchen.
My only defense is to literally run away.
EDIT. After reading over most of the thread I found a few answer I will try out. You guys are all light years ahead of me. Info is great though.Last edited by McLite; 07-13-2009, 05:04 AM.- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
a few questions...
1.) im using machida and fighting rampage in advanced and i just do like quick punch combos and kicks and what not and then just step back. and usually i do fine but when he gets me in his like single hand clinch and starts pounding those uppercuts what can i do? just rotate the RS and try to reverse? and ive read previous posts and they keep saying wait for knees and just counter with a takedown but rampage never throws knees. so im wondering what i should do or if its just a superior clinch O to clinch D.
2.) how do you maintain a full mount up? i do the major transitions and i get one or two strikes in and then im reversed, even though im not trying to transition... and when im in full guard throwing hammer fists they just kick me away, so is that just a difference in the stats of each fighter or can i do something to maintain the adv positions?
Any help would be great. Thanks!Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
Just got back into this game after a break.
Before I took my leave, i was trying to get good with strikers and boxers, so I was decent at wrestling and what not. However I was getting murdered trying to stand up with people and it really pissed me off.
Flash forward to yesterday. I picked Machida and really learned how to time my kicks, punches and got back to my bread and butter ground game. Patience being the key, usually waiting for my opponent to throw the first punches then countering.
I went on a 14 game win streak and probably won something like 23 out of 29 or something. It was great fun.
Machida is just an awesome overall fighter. His ground work is superb.
So BJJ and kickboxing > Wrestling boxing for sure for me.
I think i found my style.
I dont play anyone that wins over 70% of their matches though. Do any of you guys "screen" opponents?GT: Event Horizon 0Comment

I don't play ranked matches anymore - not until the patch - but I never screened opponents. Just because someone has a great record doesn't mean they quit, and just because they have a lesser one doesn't mean they don't quit.Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
I always screen opponents, meaning I always check their record. If it's a really good one, I won't mind picking an opponent with a better rating than them (if possible). If by chance I'm matched up with someone with a bad ranking, I'll choose one of the low ranked guys. Last night I was matched up (as a level 75 68% win) against a level 0, 0-5 record. He picked GSP and I picked Matt Arroyo and beat him pretty badly, I was destroying him in the mount and would just get up on my own and do it again. Why it matched me up against someone like that I don't know. If someone has a "fake" looking record, I'll play them anyway and whatever happens, happens. I played a guy once who was 50-0 and he was garbage, and for whatever reason he didn't disconnect.Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
when im in full guard, and throwing hammerfists and what not i always get reversed or they kick out. so then i tried the transition blocking by holding the RS left or right, but then that leaves me open for punches. is that what im supposed to do? or is it like a trade off? like transition blocking for blocking your face?Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
it's a trade off. You either block or transition. not very realistic, but just how it is.
personally, I'll throw shots here and there, and mostly transition block. then I'll sneak in a transition when I think it'll work.Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
How do you go for the takedown from the clinch with a BJJ guy?
And is there anything else you can do from the clinch besides a shoot and falling on your back to guard? Machida specifically...GT: Event Horizon 0Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
Same as with anyone, just hit LT + RS towards opponent to shoot for a takedown when in the clinch. There isn't anything special, but I find that this normally surprised people, as they're expecting you to either pull guard, get out of the clinch, or strike, not shoot for a takedown. I have a high success rate there... its hard to grapple block quickly enough so you normally get it.
And no, there's nothing for BJJ guys in the clinch except pulling guard, escaping the clinch w/LSB, or shoot for the takedown. You can strike also, but it's pretty pointless.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment
