Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread

BJJ signature submissions that other disciplines don't have, all of which are triggered by holding LB/L1 and clicking the RS:

    North/South Choke (from N/S, naturally)
    Triangle Choke from Mount
    Flying Armbar from Single-Collar Tie
Kneebar from Up/Down defense near (you'll see your legs scrunch up signifying that they're close enough, then you can grab them)

They also have the signature counter submission from open guard, which you trigger by catching their punch using RS. Judokas also have this.

Yeah, can't forget that one... that's Bonnar's moneymaker.

That's just triggered normally with RS though... the transition is what requires LB, which is why I didn't mention it. They also have submissions from halfguard down and guard down that the other disciplines don't ahve, but those are just normal click RS subs as well.

          BJJ and KB or MT.

I HATE Boxing. Fighters without headkicks are useless.

BJJ is my favorite because it doesn't matter what position I'm in, unless it's mounted, I feel fairly in control. I'll let people take me down, and fight from my back without worry.

KB and MT because the MT clinch is fun, and KB because of the Superman punch. I wish MT had the Superman punch, then I'd be in heaven.

Boxing does seem useless at times. It shouldnt though. Anybody think head kicks should be tweaked? They are way too easy to land and dont drain nearly enough energy. Also, if you miss a headkick the fighter should be much more succeptable to attack. Thats why mt and kb are the popular techniques

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread

I had a question about career mode. Twice i have gone through my career, fighting 28 fights in one, and 30 in another. After you retire a fighter, that fighter is available in exhibition and online modes, etc. However, both times that i have retired, my fighter's overall rating was surprisingly low (the one who fought 30 fights ws 59 ovr. and the one with 28 fights was 49 ovr.). I was wondering why this was, both of my fighters were fairly good, one finishing 22-8 and the other 21-7. I usually sparred once or twice between fights, earning a respectable amount of points, and i also did the training for strength, cardio, and speed accordingly to the weight class of my fighter, as well as attending the camps of my striking and grappling techniques, earning an average of 2-3 tasks out of the 7. when i finished with both of the careers, i was a level 2 in both of my specialty areas. When i sparred, i tried to add most of my points to the weaknesses of my fighter, trying to make him an all-rounder.

Any ideas on why my fighters are so poorly rated?

I agree with Timmay. BJJ is the way to go for me, I've fought over 100 times ranked and only chose a non-BJJ guy once (Huerta, loss).

I like wrestlers. For their throws and ground and pound. Like BJJ too. I normally pick Kickboxing and BJJ or Wrestler

How long does it typically take to go through a career? Ive done my share of careers where i try to accomplish certain things. Now I usually just go through so I can have a solid CAF either Couture or Fedor.

How long is it taking you guys?

Haven't you tried the CAF glitch that people use to create guys like Fedor/Couture without going through the career? I haven't tried it, but search the term 'CAF glitch' in this forum and there should be a thread about it.

Yeah ive tried it but the attributes arent accurate. When using fedor i find it worth it to go through career so i can get his speed and cardio accurate.

That's literally the only good thing about wrestlers though... full mount from side, north/south, or halfguard up. Beyond that, it's a lot of stuffed slams, failed stamina-sapping signature transitions (mostly slams, which take a ton of stamina), limited submissions, limited ability to get out of bad positions...

I can win with wrestlers, but it makes the ground game very one-dimensional... if you're smart, you just try for Full Mount every time since you can't really submit anyone very easily from any other position. And unless you're the rare kickboxing/MT and wrestling combination, you don't even have many good strikes on the ground aside from those boxer punches from mount/guard. Unless your opponent doesn't know how to defend clinch slams or something, there isn't much to like about wrestling aside from the mount thing IMO.

Much like boxing really limits your striking arsenal, wrestling limits your ground arsenal. Clinch slams (and Judo trips/throws) are far too easy to defend to be very valuable -- and every time it's defended properl,y it turns into an immediate (and tough to get out of, often because you wasted stamina on the aborted slam attempt) submission attempt or side control.

If you like the slams and whatnot, I'd suggest Judo as a better alternative because you have a few subs from defensive positions, MUCH better transitions to get you out of trouble, and much faster/more unpredictable trips/throws from clinch that will have a better success rate than the slams. You still get countered from the clinch, but they're quicker and most people aren't used to playing against Judokas since there are only 2 real fighters with that skill and neither is used much online.

when wrestlers have you in the underhooks, how do you block/reverse their slams? I've done it a few times purely by accident.

Just hold RS away from them -- grapple block. As soon as they start thinking about a slam, hold RS and you'll either stuff it by landing on them in side control or catch them in a guillotine... just depends on which slam they're going for. Most people tend to use the power slams too much -- the most effective by far is the trip-like slam where you end up in halfguard just because it's quicker and harder to block, similar to the Judo trips.
