My guess is that he has the worst managers in the sport and that Nate is also a dummy. If Nate was getting paid even average I don't believe he'd be bitching right now. He seems like a type dude where you give him even a bit below what he's due and he'll get in there and scrap no questions asked.

Holly Holm was offered a 15/15 contract to fight. Where as the boxing world offered her 250K to fight in September.
On the flip side, Ronda Rousey was given a 45/45 contract her 1st fight in the UFC.

MMA News & results for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Strikeforce & more Mixed Martial Arts fights
Since it's Diaz brothers day on the site, here's a Nick interview that dropped tonight. There's some good stuff in it.
As far as Nate goes, I always assumed that he was a good draw without knowing any of the figures beforehand. Not as big as his brother of course, but he puts on good fights and most fans seems to have a strong opinion about him one way or another. I don't blame him for speaking out, and maybe it will convince other fighters to do the same. However, I don't think it will make a difference in the short term. Dana is a stubborn guy, and I doubt that a little noise from the Diaz camp is going to make him go back to the negotiating table any time soon. I hope that I'm wrong though.Comment

Will he get the amount of money he's asking for? That's another story. He certainly doesn't deserve a title fight which would give him the big pay day he's looking for.
As far as Dana and company's fighter wages, well I fear that this will be a major issue along with a few other issues that could possibly kill the sport. Again, I believe that the rules need to be tweaked to make for less stalling and laying around. With all of this talk about fighters' pay, it's only a matter of time before this becomes a major topic, if it isn't already.Comment

The Rousey contract is only part of the story because she has always received a PPV cut. Take the Carmouche fight. That did 450k buys. Lets assume is like the Eddie Alverez deal the UFC offered, she would receive the following:
"$1 for each “buy” between 200,000 and 400,000 buys, $2 per buy between 400,000 and 600,000 buys, and $2.50 per buy over 600,000 buys."
Rousey made over a half a million for her first UFC fight. That doesnt even include the money she received for her UFC sponsorship.Comment

Nick is also stubborn though. He's as crazy as ever but I respect him if he is content in retirement. I completely understand his logic about not wanting to fight for anything less than what he thinks he deserves. That's his right.

Also, I guess its the lawyer in me but I hate when people sign deals and then complain about it after. Diaz's current contract is 200k/200k plus a PPV cut. With GSP retired, its probably the best WW contract in the company. He was gifted a title shot after losing to Condit. The fact that he admits that he doesnt love fighting and if he fought anyone other than Hendricks it would be just for a money grab...doesnt make me think the UFC should bend over backwards to get him to fight again.Comment

Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko wants a piece of former UFC titlist Tito Ortiz, and he wants it on pay-per-view.
Shlemenko posted a video online Thursday night, asking Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney to book him opposite Ortiz.
“Tito Ortiz, you say you want to fight May 17 on Bellator’s pay-per-view. I will fight you. I will beat you,” Shlemenko said. “Tito, I respect you, but I must beat you, because I am champion. I know Tito Ortiz is a light heavyweight. This is not a problem for me. I’m ready to fight light heavyweight, no problem. Bjorn, make this fight for me, because I am champion. I am the best. I will make a good fight -- fight of the night.”
Bellator MMA’s inaugural pay-per-view takes place May 17 at the Landers Center in Southaven, Miss., and is headlined by a lightweight title rubber match between Eddie Alvarez and Michael Chandler.
How about no.......Tito lost 6 of his last 7 fights.Comment

Tyrone Spong shattered his shin in the 1st round of the Glory title fight in Turkey throwing a leg kick. Thankfully it wasn't as graphic as Anderson Silva or Corey Hill leg breaks.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Spong took it like a champ. He didn't show any pain or anything, just frustration. Sucks though, I was looking forward to his next WSOF fight.Comment

Rich Franklin says he could beat Anderson Silva if they fought for a 3rd time. Sure Rich, you would say that after Anderson broke his leg.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Rich must've forgotten about that clinch.

Jake Shields signs with WSOF. Yep, I knew it, that place is where all the UFC fighters go after they get cut.
