Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Come on. Let's not act like Holm is some bum off the street. She is a former boxing and kickboxing champ. She has wins over two top 15 fighters.
Now are there people who deserve a shot before her? Sure but they've all been stopped by Rousey already.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Who that Ronda hasn't beaten? The only one I can think of is Nunes. Nunes has no name recognition and is 2-1 in her last 3. She also would be hard as hell to promote right now because she speaks no English and doesn't have a skill that could cause a threat to Ronda.
That's why Holm is there. Former champion who is easy to promote.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Personally, I had no interest in Rousey-Tate III. Ronda has wiped out the division for the most part. Holm was one of the few intriguing fights to make. I think it will be an interesting fight, because I can see Ronda trying to win a standup battle with Holm in the beginning, just to prove a point. That could be Holly's only shot at winning, landing a big punch/counter early, because once Ronda takes her down, it's a wrap.Currently Playing:

Just make the damn Cyborg fight already. Rousey with these waffle house waitresses has gotten old.Comment

Yeah that's silly thinking and why you aren't a promoter. Lol. It's not that simple. Even the biggest stars in boxing and MMA need a opponent that will bring in viewers.Comment

OS MMA Random Thread
Aholbert, I disagree with you about Tate and her striking. It surely has improved(Rousey also), while I surprisingly agree with Dana on giving Holm the fight over Tate, it is the more interesting fight. Yet I do believe right now Nunes and Tate is the better competition than Holm, promoting aside.

Even if she has improved on her feet is it enough to beat Ronda? Can that striking keep Ronda off of her? Tate hurt Eye but wasnt able to stop her. Tate hasnt been able to stop anyone in over 3 years and hasnt stopped anyone by KO since 2009.
I like Tate alot and cheer for her in most matchups but I just dont think she has anything for Ronda.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
I'm just not seeing it, Phobia. During the Eye fight, I remember saying to my wife "Miesha is getting owned on her feet" right before Tate landed that big overhand late in the first that changed the fight. Same with the second round. I definetly didnt see any improvements on her feet during the Nakai and McMann fights.

As far Miesha, I thought her striking looked more crisp, more head movement, and good tight defensive form. Now that was me comparing it to her past fights not in conjunction with Eye's striking. I think overall she looked improved from her past self. Can she beat Ronda, no and I think people are not super excited for it because of that. Holm everyone knows she has been in the fight game for a very long time and has competed at a high level during that time. Her style is also different than anyone Ronda has fought so it makes for a interesting take....can she keep Ronda at bay and point fight?
I think at this current stage both Ronda and Cris are fighting people in their leagues which don't match up to their skill level. I just feel the "dream" match up between the two would weight heavily in Ronda's favor because she has far less holes than Cris. Instead for me, I want to see more high level athletes in the women division. The talent pool is the biggest issue for these two ladies.Last edited by Phobia; 08-31-2015, 01:32 PM.Comment
