You're gonna kill me, but honestly, not really. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't lucky, but there's reasons that boxing trainers don't teach their guys to throw big lunging bombs. They're easy to dodge, they expend a lot of energy, and they often leave the fighter out of position to be countered. Fortunately for Fedor, he fought a guy that wasn't a good technical striker, a guy that stood there flat-footed with his hands down, chin up, and without the ability to react quick enough to dodge it.

It was a spectacular KO no doubt, but it wasn't really an impressive punch.

You could say the same thing about Hendo's KO of Bisping, too, but that Fedor punch was like Hendo's, but a lot more. I mean, Fedor nearly fell over from throwing it.

I'd actually be interested in seeing Fedor and Anderson fight. Fedor's giant bombs against Anderson's quickness, precision, and variety. It'd be an interesting fight if it stayed on the feet, at least.

I would compare the punch more to Marquardt nailing Maia.

As I said in earlier in the thread, Rogers was telegraphing his punches and Fedor could see that. If you watch the fight over, you'll see Fedor throw the exact same punch at least three different times in the first round under the same circumstances. As soon as Rogers threw out that lunging jab, Fedor would counter with the overhand right. In the second round he was able to time it perfectly and nailed Rogers. I don't know what would make it more impressive.

Will he ride off into the sunset?

We can only pray that something changes in their camp so he can come to his rightful place and fight Cain/Carwin/Brock Etc.

On another note, is Strikeforce's cage smaller than UFC's?? I swear it looked smaller.

Reminded me a lot of the Hendo punch. Hendo swings like Fedor. He just isn't as accurate. Hendo's hit was a lot of luck. Bisping was an idiot to keep circling toward Hendo's right. Fedor said he saw a window early on and took advantage of it. You say Fedor's striking style isn't effective, and i'd agree, that's what is so impressive about it. He makes that style so effective because of how accurate he is with those nukes he throws.

Fedor vs Silva is prolly the best matchup in MMA right now, style wise. More than Fedor-Lesnar

I don't have the slightest clue about ratings but does the fact that it started at 9 PM on the west make a difference?

The main event didn't even come on until 11 PM.

Us west coasters are not used to staying in on a Saturday night to watch TV. We're used to a fight night being done by at least 9 or 930 thus allowing us to still have the night.

Exactly, why it was tape delayed here and only here is beyond me. I didnt even bother watching it as I heard the results for most of the fights before it even aired here so I watched the UFC Main Events special on Spike instead. Ive got the Strikeforce show on my DVR but considering Ive heard the Big Foot/Werdum and the Shields/Miller fights were boring Im not that interested in seeing 1-2 decent fights that I already know the outcomes of anyways.

The ratings for the event are actually pretty decent. Don't forget that rating doesn't even include the Rogers/Fedor fight since it didn't start until 2 hours into the broadcast. I feel bad for the fans on the West Coast that DVR'ed it and don't have time shifting. They missed the main event because it went over.

The event was number 1 in the 18-49 demo between 10pm-11pm.

You will see more of these Saturday night fights since it attracts the 18-34 crowd and Saturday night is a wasteland for tv anyways.

Outside of the fedor fight and Gegard Mousasi fight the rest of the fights were boring, The 1st fight was awful. I can't see how strikeforce can put shows on bi-monthly or whatever they think they wanna do on CBS and see a high ratings. No casual fans will tune in unless it's a big fight because most people are out on saturday nights. Only hardcore fans will tune in.

It wasn't hard to predict Rogers would lose by a KO. I bet my friend $20 that Fedor would win by knock out actually... Rogers is a great puncher but his problem is that he punches with his chin up. And that's just asking to get knocked out.

I'd consider myself a casual fan and I really enjoyed it. Especially the fight where the guy held out the round while he was in the choke hold. What exactly makes a fight boring or not? I thought the first fight was great. The winner was losing early because he got hit with a few punches but he had some great takedowns.

I can't see Strikeforce putting on more than 2 cards a year on CBS. Actually if Fedor leaves after his contract, I don't think their roster is good enough to have any more cards on network tv.

The Fedor fight went over? Figures, I should have set it to record later as every single EliteXc card went over as well. If thats the case then the only fight I would watch was the Sokoudju fight and thats just to see him get lit up.

Yeah I'm surprised at the amount of people who though the Werdum-Silva fight was boring. Obviously it wasn't FOTY or anything, but it was still a pretty solid outing. The Shields-Mayhem fight was a little dull in places, especially the 4th and 5th rounds, but again I didn't think it was terrible.
