    Re: UFC 143- Condit v. Diaz - Februrary 4

Saw this on the FOX Sports site, but haven't seen it else where.

Well no further explanation was given to ESPN.com, speculation has been running wild as to why the bout was cancelled. Although nothing has been confirmed by a source within the Diaz or Condit camp, UFC insider’s have hinted at a possible problem with Diaz and the post fight urine analysis. More details to come as we get them.

Now they are forced to risk losing the chance at the belt or getting injured themselves because the real belt holder can't (or won't) fight.

Not fair at all. But if that is the game the UFC wants to allow them hell yea sit out and wait. Watch how pissed fans get and maybe the UFC will do something to change this.

Diaz is such a mess. He's irresponsible and very untrustworthy. I think Dana would **** himself if he was ever the champ.

I like Diaz from an entertainment stand point and being a good fighter, but I'll say the same I said about Johnson, let him go. What good is a fighter you can't depend on?

LOL! So glad Condit won. Diaz winning wouldve been a disaster in the press.

                  Are you talking about Rumble?
If you get sick and can't cut weight for that reason you shouldn't get cut.
He made WW limit his previous fight fine.

Diaz is a great fighter, but he has a lot of problems.

I thought it was said that Rumble got sick as a result of cutting so much weight and that he didn't notify Dana/UFC about it. Plus it was the 3rd time he'd missed weight.

Also, it's been confirmed Diaz tested positive for marijuana.

Another championship drug related bullet dodged by the UFC.

If he didn't notify Dana he's an idiot.
I know it was his third time but if you medically can't cut anymore, there's nothing you can do.

Dana needs to get Diaz a therapist, much like GSP had to get one to cope with the pressure and spotlight of being in the UFC.

GSP couldn't cope with it and turned to heavy drinking and womanizing up in Montreal. Diaz can't cope with it and is turning to the sticky icky. Just like Melvin Gullard turned to coke. People greatly under estimate the pressure of the UFC spotlight.

Diaz after the Condit fight said he was tired of "playing the game", well know the only game he has a chance of playing is Undisputed 3.

He's probably going to be suspended for a year. Frankly Diaz is an idiot. He could have smoked all the weed he wanted a day after the fight. This was the biggest fight of his career and he still couldn't resist blazing. The UFC simply can't trust him.

The sad thing is that Diaz is now a PPV draw. It looks like 143 had about 400K Buys which is a good number in today's climate. Condit/Diaz 2 probably would have got 500K-550K and a Diaz/GSP match would get over Million. If I'm the UFC, I would probably still keep him on the roster for financial reasons.

Being that he is relatively still young with a lot potential, they might just enroll him a rehab clinic and get him some therapy. It is the UFC's best interest considering his younger brother is in the UFC as well and we all know younger brothers tend to look up to and copy their older brother.

And I know they don't want to lose both Diaz brothers. That would be a pretty big setback for the UFC.

Weed is a pretty harmless drug (in most cases) and it's something I feel should be legal. I have a feeling Diaz feels the same way and that's why he would never go into rehab. Nate also smokes weed but he has never been suspended for it.

I don't see Diaz changing for anyone. This is who he is. You either have to accept the risk he poses or cut him.

That seems like a bit of an exaggeration. Losing Diaz loses you the GSP/Diaz buys, but really...other than that, if they both disappeared from the UFC there's no "big setback" at all, in my opinion.
