Yep, he did say that. That kind of makes this more chilling, because Chavo was essentially providing evidence (unknowingly) on national television.
Saying "I love you" to somebody isn't THAT messed up, but given that it is two dudes talking, and what we now know, it contributes to what was going on in Benoit's head while this was going on. He knew what he was doing, and he knew he was going.
Also, if the investigators speculated Benoit murdered his wife on Saturday, and Chavo spoke with Benoit on Saturday night, then that makes Chavo an more interesting person to speak with, because he can help describe what Benoit's state was like at that moment. I'm not sure if Chavo said he spoke with Benoit Saturday night, however.

Also wanted to add that they hopefully perform a scan of Benoit's brain now that he has passed. It would be interesting to see how it looks compared with that ex-NFL player who committed suicide at a young age, and was later found to have the brain of like a 85 year old man with Alzheimer's or something...

I'm not defending him, but it's clear at this point that he had mental problems. How can you deny something like that? I don't respect the guy, but it's pretty common scientific knowledge that severe cases of depression can make you do awful things.

        Agreed completely.

But I guess that's the world we live in now. There's always an excuse.

People also have to take into account the fact that Benoit's body took a beating day in and day out to provide you with entertainment.

It is very possible that in order to cope with this almost daily punishment one could resort to taking painkillers and become addicted. Such an addiction to a drug could easily lead to severe depression (mental torture) and an unstable mental state.

So for all those knocking him, this should be taken into consideration.

I feel so bad for that 7 year old boy, so innocent and not even placing a stake in the ground for his life to really get started. How can a parent do this to their kids? I have 3 kids and would never phathom doing something to intentionally harm them.

I just want to throw this out there and if a mod thinks its overboard, please delete it. Does anyone think that maybe the plans were to give the ECW title to Punk and it hurt Benoit, like a stab in the back + add any personal issues he may have had outside of the ring to that.

Do you stick up for everyone that has committed murder like this? Just because we watched him on TV doesn't make him a good person. How have you reacted to all of the other recent news stories about men killing their families?

This guy has never been diagnosed with any mental illness, at least it hasn't been reported yet people are clinging to this belief just because they saw the guy on tv. I don't mean to sound insentive and people who know me know that I don't insult people like that but until I see something credible about the guy having a mental illness then i'm not going to feel sorry for him.

Killing his son and his wife I do object too no matter the reason, but there will be a reason for it. It's not justifed, but it is a reason.

IF he was suffering from Severe depression thing god only knows.

Without a drug or any disorders....
If he felt like everything around him was crashing.... you family, your job that you love so much, etc.... all of it can lead to an unstable person. *sighs*

I don't "stick up" for murderers. I'm not "sticking up" for Benoit, but I do know mental problems are the cause of almost every murder that takes place inside a family. I cannot stand Benoit for this, I don't know where everyone got the idea that I was defending him because he's a wrestler.

like I told TJ... look at the photo they put up on wwe.com

That photo looks like the personification of evil to me... I can't even look at it.

Do you honestly think anyone could kill their family in this way without a mental illness? Not to mention, he also took his own life. He was obviously f'd in the head.

Also, for the record, I wasn't a Benoit fan to begin with.

With the news that's broken since I was last online in this thread, I'm still at a loss as to how to react. Still in shock. I'm interested in (and given the indications in this thread, apprehensive of) the autopsy results.

I will continue, however, to remember Chris Benoit the wrestler, one who busted his butt every time he was out there to make sure we got our money's worth. RIP, Benoit.

Well, I haven't watched wrestling since the WW(F) merged with the WCW but I have vivid memories of Chris Benoit matches. Regardless of how it turns out, I will still feel bad for him and his family. If it does turn out that depression was behind this, then I cannot help but feel bad for Chris because of all the mental anguish that must have been going through his head.

                              RIP Benoit family
