Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
lol WWE logic sucks, even in old days.
Badd Blood 1997. Hart Foundation vs Vader/Patriot in a flag match...for some reason the stipulation was changed so you could also win by pinfall/submission. And that's actually how the match ended. Talk about a useless match. It's a FLAG MATCH that had NOTHING to do with the flags themselves, as even after the match ended, nobody even bothered about the flags(you'd think after the match was over, the winners would at least climb up and grab their flags, but they just walked away).
The more I watch stuff from 1997, more I realize just how good Bret/Owen were. Unfortunately I don't see Owen ever getting a world title in his career. Sure,he was gonna win the IC title in 99 and all,but wouldn't have really done much after that. MAYBE if he was around in 02-04 he'd get one(since they did give titles to Eddie/Benoit in 04), but for sure wouldn't have gotten one in attitude era.
I never watched WWE in 97 or anything so watching this type of stuff and actually getting to see just how good Owen/Bret were...really sucks even more seeing how Bret left WWE and how Owen never got a chance to be big(and like I said, most likely wouldn't have ever gotten a chance either). WWE needs to have Canadian stars in the company again! All those shows in Canada during 97 with great crowds and so much media coverage from Canadian side, too bad they don't have Canada vs USA storyline today in WWE similar to in 97.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
It did have great feuds and stuff but there was also abunch of bad things people obviously forget/don't bother to remember.
Foley,HHH,HBK,Taker,Austin,Hart Foundation,Farooq,Rock,Bearer,Kane were all the great parts of 97. DOA,Savios stable,Godwins, minis among others were the bad parts.Comment

I kind of like the gang warfare stables. The minis were not good, but I suppose it was something different. Max Mini was pretty cool.I'm a Vince McMahon Guy!

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
El Torito Sr was also part of it lol.
Owen 3:16 theme slightly reminds me of Cesaros theme(cause of the opening)

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I'm watching Survivor Series 1995.
I loved Owen Hart and Yokozuna as a tag team.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
In my opinion 1997 ranks up there as one of the top 5 years in WWF/E history. Sure, there was some wacky booking but for the most it was a very exciting and fun time to be a wrestling fan.
BTW 1987 is probably my #1 year mainly due to the groundbreaking booking going on moreso than the actual events in the ring though there were some great stuff going on as well.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Does this make sense?
It would have been smart for the WWE to never have made Raw 3 hours when they did. Instead put that extra early hour on the WWE Network.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
But WWE makes more money with Raw at 3 hours cause of more money bringing in from the ads. Ticket prices are still the same, so WWE advertises a longer show, for the same price(for people attending), while people watching on TV get an hour extra of Raw, while WWE makes more money.
Sure, quality has gone down for the 3 hour shows and all,but to be fair, 2 hour shows for a number of years wasn't exactly doing that great either.
But with the WWE Network and preshows and all,Raw should just go back to being 2 hours and have a 30 min pre show and 30 min post show on the network. But like I said, they make more money on 3hr shows,so they won't do that.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Making "more money" is a relative term now though because there's no real competition to make WWE work hard creatively. Even if there was, the wrestling market as it is now is pretty soft. I'd rather lose some short term money and go back to 2 hrs if it means getting better creatively and maybe word of mouth will filter out about the rise in quality which in turn would lead to more ratings/revenues and such.
There really isn't a reason for a 3 hr RAW with all the other shows they have on the network and Smackdown.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

It does amaze me when you think about ratings WWE gets. 8-11pm timeslot where for a number of USA viewers, the show starts as early at 5pm! Majority of USA viewers the show actually starts BEFORE 8pm. Primetime shows on CBS,NBC and stuff are primetime LOCALLY,so it's not like if a show airs 8pm in New York, people in LA HAVE to watch it at 5pm their time or else they'll miss it.
If you're in NY, a CBS show will be on 8pm your time. If you're in LA, a primetime NBC show will be on 8pm your time. If the Yankees are playing at home, game will start 7pm for people in New York. If the Lakers are playing at home, game will start 7pm for people in LA.
Who knows how many viewers WWE truly has in USA alone if you actually count those who DVR it/watch online. I'd actually be willing to bet the number is around 6M. DVR specifically must have LOTS of viewers. Not just people doing recording so they can skip stuff, but people recording cause they might not even be home yet by time Raw starts since for them,it might be only 5 or 6pm by time it starts.Last edited by Majingir; 11-06-2014, 01:20 AM.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Watched Part Two of the Austin/McMahon Rivalries series. Skipped the first part because that's been covered so, so, so much over the years. Liked that the second part talked more about Austin's heel turn, the Invasion storyline, and him walking out and coming back behind-the-scenes stuff.
Nothing in it that hasn't been said at one point or another, but doesn't get as much talk as their on-air feud so it still seems fresh.Comment
