Re: AEW Off-Topic
Obviously Rampage didn't work out but Collision needs to be the Smackdown to their RAW aka Dynamite. Make Collision live, travel to a different city, and have the stories go between both shows. Give us a reason to tune in to Collision after we watched Dynamite on Wednesday. They need to replicate pre 2002 WWE Draft where the stories took place over both shows and concluded on PPVs.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
CM Punk sure likes his drama, doesn't he? Won't get into it, but for those interested, it's all over social media.

Re: AEW Off-Topic
SRS tweeted out that AEW rehired Ace Steele “months ago”.
SRS is the only dirt sheet guy I feel doesn’t have an agenda in this whole mess.
I will say Punk’s socials have been hilarious over the past day. Especially the one with Lars Frederiksen talking about Danhausen.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
Have to say, I know there wil be wrestlers who are more popular than others, but it's kinda sad when you see lines that are long for some, but not others. Ethan Page had a longer line than The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn. I'm in line for Britt Baker and Ruby doesn't have much of a line.
It surprised me nobody was in line for The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn. They are so over on TV... it was weird.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
I get why they're doing this, I wonder if the Toronto show has part to do with it?
WWE announced Smackdown well before AEW announced Forbidden Door.
But now AEW has FD and Collision in the very arena which WWE is hosting SD several weeks later.
I love it though, so cool having multiple major wrestling shows in such a short time, and seeing these diff ads running for both shows.Last edited by Majingir; 06-03-2023, 08:29 AM.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
That’s not that uncommon a practice. Venues do the reverse to bands. When they book a show it usually has something in the contract that says the band can’t play a show within X number miles of the venue within X number of days of the show.
I don’t know if that’s common practice for arena shows but on the club scene it’s pretty standard.

Re: AEW Off-Topic
AEW Collision not off to the best start in Canada.
They're not airing on TV. Just like Rampage they'll be streaming exclusive, which is one of the reasons Rampage was never popular here. Being streaming exclusive on a service which doesn't work half the time, is filled with unskippable ads (even worse if your stream stops working or the app crashes because you can't resume where you picked up from so now you're watching ad breaks all over again to skip ahead).
We'll see if in the long term Collision winds up being Rampage 2.0.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
True, but we're talking about a wrestling promotion that keeps track of W/L records, and does interim champions like UFC, and at one point was trying to be more about the sports competition vibes at least somewhat. But they've been throwing in these attempts at comedy a lot in the past year or so, so we're firmly in that lane now with this Jeff Jarrett stuff. If they're trying to get me to start watching regularly again, this isn't gonna do it.Comment
