    Re: AEW Off-Topic

Well, it's rumored that AEW is gonna have another big defection to WWE soon:

Less than a week after her return to television, Fightful Select is reporting that Cargill is now leaving AEW and is expected by many to sign with WWE.

Hopefully WWE can do a better job of showcasing her and hiding her weaknesses (plus that fact that she's still very green).

We'll see how she does in WWE.

Definitely should be in NXT for a while first. If she's good enough, they could build her up with a lengthy title run like Asuka.

They have people like Rhea, Raquel and others who would be good matchup if she makes it to the main roster. And you know they'll have her do the Hogan/Andre slam with Nia or Piper if they get the chance.

Tony says he prefers to not have a PPV every month, but is open to adding more PPVs.

They did 7 this year, 5 last year.

I could see them maxing out at 8, with the other 4 months being some sort of "streaming exclusive special" (similar to what WWE is gonna have with NBC).

          Month 1 PPV
          Month 2 PPV
          Month 3 Special
          Month 4 PPV
          Month 5 PPV
          Month 6 Special
          Month 7 PPV
          Month 8 PPV
          Month 9 Special
          Month 10 PPV
          Month 11 PPV
          Month 12 Special

          Maybe something like that?

So... Edge's contract is up in a couple days as his contract runs through September. AEW WrestleDream is Sunday... October 1st. Does Edge make his AEW debut on Sunday?

I really hope Khan stops signing every 40 year old that WWE releases because it's getting ridiculous. Edge was awesome back in the day but I really wish Khan would use the actual younger talent he has and starts building them up instead of just having them all waste away.

If Edge is willing to come to AEW, you sign Edge, end of story.

This build up the "young" guys stuff cracks me up. Either you have "it" or you don't most times.

How many young guys have turned into mainstream household names since AEW started?

Heck, Tony should start his own version of the NWO with these WWE guys. Because why not?

Disagree completely. The "it" thing is bullcrap. So much talent that even if they had "it", you would never know it because they barely get any TV time or story lines or anything. They're just there.

I started watching AEW because it wasn't WWE and if it's going to keep going that way, no reason for me to keep watching. I will never understand fans obsession with the old guys but will then complain that the younger guys are being held back or this or that.

Edge was awesome 20 years ago. He's below average at best now and sure, he can put out a great match here and there but for what he's going to cost, simply not worth the return investment plus is AEW going to do full time house shows because if not, it's an even bigger waste of money that's not going to push ratings or anything anyway.

But hey, to each their own.

My question is why did WWE not just re-sign him? Why even let him leave? It's bizarre.

I found his return to be pretty underwhelming minus the surprise of his initial rumble return. He had some good matches but nothing I felt I must tune in for. I can’t see him being an asset to AEW other than the buzz of his initial appearance

This. His WM entrance using the Brood's music was cool and yeah, he'll get a pop and whatnot if he debuts in AEW but in no way, shape or form would I be signing 40 year old's at the expense of losing 25 year old's. Just makes no sense to me.

Sounds very WCW (Eric Bischoff years) and TNA (before the name change) to me.....

I liked the incorporation of Slayer into his entrance at Mania because his regular theme is terrible. But yeah, I’m not some huge Edge fan so I’m not too invested in this.

Can't comment on TNA because outside of a few X division matches early on, I never watched or followed that promotion but I followed WCW since 1989 when they were the NWA. And yes, this looks exactly like what Bischoff did back then. I understand signing two, maybe three but trying to get every old ex-WWE star is just a waste of money, time and resources that could be better spent elsewhere.
