Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Which is the point. A new company, you need to create buzz however you can. It's up to them to actually deliver once the shows happen.Comment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Well, it would be a worked shoot anyway. No different than Jarrett’s return to WWF at the end of 97.

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
So on my whole point about hoping AEW having exclusive contracts once TV starts, here's a perfect example of why I want that. AAA (a Mexican promotion that is working with AEW) is doing some TV tapings a couple weeks after Double or Nothing. One of those matches happens to be the Lucha Bros vs Young Bucks for the AAA tag titles. That will be a rematch from the Double or Nothing card. Now here lies the problem this match can be seen for on Twitch for free. So AAA is giving away the 2nd biggest on DoN for free like 2 weeks later.
So why should I even consider spending the $50/60 on the PPV when I can see one of their biggest matches for free 2 weeks later? How do I know I won't see Hangman show up one night in Dragon Gate to challenge Neville for the Dragon Gate title in a month or whatever?Last edited by redsox4evur; 05-17-2019, 09:55 AM.Comment

Absolutely right. I wish they would just announce their own titles and get more exclusive rights contracts but I doubt they would get the same talent if they did that.
I understand why they like their own Elite talent working small shows because it creates a cult following, but it's too greasy promoter to me. Just get your talent, treat them like they are a big deal, and build your own brand.
I'm really excited to see their roster because it's chocked full of talent.Too Old To Game Club

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Tony Khan had some interesting comments in an interview with Bleacher Report.
Tony on Current Goal:
Khan states later in the interview that his current focus is on making entry into the pay-per-view market and finding the wisest way to get AEW into the weekly DVR schedules of fans. “I’m not gonna go on Monday night or Friday night, and I would never go head-to-head with the NFL or pay for time on television,” he explains.
Not Touring:
"I’m not planning on doing hundreds of non-televised events on tour,” he adds. “Because I don’t think that would represent a large enough revenue stream for us and profitable enough business sector for us to risk the health and well-being of all these wrestlers. I’m not gonna have an offseason, but there will be a lighter schedule and we’ll work people in and out.”
