IDK, this whole thing has been "we're so different than everything else" and then go Jericho out the gate as their champion is just incredibly annoying, to me personally.
What is really different about AEW right now though? They're moving towards the WWE model when it comes to working indie companies, here's an approved list of companies you can work for, that's it and if we need to do something for us you're going to do it no matter how meaningful it is. Their healthcare and benefits system is the same as WWE, only the office people are receiving them and not the in ring talent. Unless you also hold an office job like Cody, Bucks, Kenny, Brandi. Ok they aren't scripting the promos and shows all that much but that's a good and bad thing (see Jericho having to come out to do his open mic gimmick after attacking Page because he had no idea what wanted to say) and they thought at the end of FFTF that they were off of BRLive and FITE during that charity promo. But what else is really different?

And agreed that going with Jericho as your inaugural champion isn't the best play at all. Mainly because he's a 97 year old Alice Cooper cosplayer whose days as a top guy passed by him 10 years ago. But also because it goes against they claimed they were going to do 6 months and now have seemingly changed their tune on.

From what I've heard he has the exact same power as Vince, everything has to get cleared through him first before it makes TV or the PPV but he's much more open minded than Vince. And there's 0 problem with everything having to go through (or Vince for this matter), HE OWNS THE DAMN COMPANY! Why shouldn't everything have to get the CEO's seal of approval first?

You can't put the new belt of the new company on someone that no one knows. Unless you were gonna put it on Cody, idk who else you would put it on to help/continue garner attention/credibility.

Have your young guy chase Jericho seems like the obvious route

Yep the top 3 guys in the company (IMO) to crown the first ever champion are Omega, Jericho, Cody (in that order). As much as I personally hate Jericho he's the only logical choice for the first champion because of the optics of Omega or Cody holding that first belt. It just reeks of what caused the ultimate downfall of WCW, wrestlers who are booking the program putting themselves above everyone else.

What if Jericho wins, gets huge heat, and drops the title on the first tv show in main event? Whoever beats him would get a huge reaction.

What indie companies (plural) are WWE guys allowed to work for lol? And don't say Evolve. That's like saying a guy on Raw can appear on one NXT show, so he's therefore he's working the indies. AEW guys are working indie shows all over the country every day.

This seems like a good idea until you realize at most a tenth of the TV audience is watching BTE weekly in order to understand the stories being told. You have a lot like myself who are just watching the PPVs right now then will watch the weekly stuff once TV starts. And then you’ll have a decent number who are going to see the commercials on TBS/TNT during MLB games and movies that will being it out for the time ever on TV. So I’m not sure you can get huge heat on Jericho in a 1 or 2 minute prematch hype package.

And how many of those guys are starting to get pulled from those shows because they have exclusive AEW contracts coming into effect in 3 months time (which was my point)? We know Janela and MJF are on that list because Joey said it earlier this year and a small indie company just said last week they had to pull MJF from a match and couldn’t reschedule it because of his contract status with AEW. So how is that not like the EVOLVE/WWE partnership? Yea the AEW guys will be able to OWE and AAA because they are “partnered” with AEW, but they won’t be able to work NEW (where Mox worked his first indie match) for example in 3 months. Also NXT talent has been working multiple Evolve shows not just one offs. Hell the Street Profits held the EVOLVE tag team championships earlier this year.

Also I didn’t mean WWE talent could work for other companies (plural) that part was about AEW.

I think we just don't know what'll happen when TV starts. And we don't know if they're doing house show tours, but I'd lean towards that not happening.

My guess is the guys working the top matches for AEW won't be doing as many (if any) indie dates, and guys in the mid card and lower will still pop up at indie promotions. They aren't going to tell guys like Marko Stunt and Darby Allin that they can't do indie shows if they aren't using them hardly at all on TV. MJF on the other hand is a top guy. Also he's still doing MLW and other shows.

And it's different from Evolve/WWE because these AEW guys are working tons of other domestic promotions. Evolve is the minor league affiliate of WWE.

Starrcast (a wrestling convention) will be happening during All Out weekend. Happening not too far from where All Out is taking place in Chicago.

The new headliner for this event is....CM Punk!

Haven't seen him doing anything wrestling related since he left. He still had to deal with wrestling questions in other interviews, but this convention itself is a wrestling specific one.

Very unlikely he ever returns to wrestling, but it's always fun to speculate. Him and AJ going to AEW would be fun to think about.

Starrcast and AEW are independent of each other so that doesn't mean anything.

Real talk, I don't care at all until he actually he laces up his boots for a match. And even then I only slightly care. The dude is a complete ******* who was made a martyr for some odd reason.
