Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Not official yet, but October 2nd seems like the date the show is premiering. JR said he's heard diff stories, but Wednesday would make most sense.
I dont see how it's another day. Monday/Friday is wwe, tuesday/Thursday tnt has NBA. Wednesday is only one which makes sense.Comment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Hearing what JR said on Austins podcast about the chair shot and things similar to that, I wonder how much we'll see hardcore type things in future.
He says steel chair shots of all kinds aren't really needed anymore. His thoughts on blading are that it should rarely happen, only if the situation really calls for it.
He was the one responsible for the time limit on matches. Wanting to add a more sports feel to matches. And like Cody said before, wins and losses will matterComment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Sounds like AEW is going the WWE route when it comes to working the Indie scene. Which is yep you can work on Indie shows but only with certain companies. So that would mean being a lot of the talent (read everyone not named Mox or Jericho, don't see Kenny working with NJPW anytime soon personally) only being able to work AAA in Mexico or OWE in China plus whatever Joshi promotions they are working with in Japan.
This makes complete sense to me. Limits the amount of times we can see these AEW matches elsewhere for either free (for example Bucks vs Lucha Bros on AAA's twitch) or a fraction of the cost. Also would suck to see a champion have to vacate his/her belt if he/she got a serious injury working for one of these outside companies.Comment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
AEW got some local TV coverage in Jacksonville for Fight for The Fallen.

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Tony Khan was kind of all over the place on the post FFTF press conference talking about how many of these types of shows he wants to do each year. Sort of just thinking out loud.
He said he'd like to do these shows every month in between the bigger PPVs. **** that. And you know they're going to want to do big matches on their weekly TNT show too to get those ratings. Smh. This is what WWE does and it does to not work for me.Comment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Anyone worried that the guy who is likely going to be their first champion is kind of being treated like a midcarder?
AEW had a really good start and that honeymoon period was extremely good, but now that it's going to their biggest PPV ever and their booking has been kind of all over the place. I'm extremely concerned that Page has been stuck in the midcard of every PPV and has gotten, at best, moderate reactions.Too Old To Game Club

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Idk who the **** the guy is; I'm just gonna assume most don't either?
You can see the potential there. I'm sure after more good matches and angles/stories he'll be where they want him to be

Also I have to commend the EVPs for not going the easy way out and just putting the titles on themselves going into TV.Last edited by redsox4evur; 07-16-2019, 01:02 PM.Comment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
From interviews I heard, it sounds like Tony has all final say on booking decisions as far as wins and losses. The Bucks wanted to lose at DoN, but it was Tony who made the final decision of them going over.
I don’t see Page winning the title, but I feel like he’s going to get a good rub from Jericho in this match and with the right booking and creative, we will all know who Hangman Page is. The potential is definitely there.

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
So...AEW is supposed to be the alternative wrestling resource and they are going to put the strap on Jericho?
IDK, this whole thing has been "we're so different than everything else" and then go Jericho out the gate as their champion is just incredibly annoying, to me personally.Too Old To Game Club

I think Jericho wins at the PPV as well.
