Here's the Bret interview I was remembering. Pretty rough, but not particularly surprising.

Wheeler Yuta is competing in NJPW’s Best of the Super Juniors 29.

What a rise for Yuta. Going from a throw in with Best Friends to Blackpool Combat Club, ROH Pure Champion, and now competing in this prestigious tournament.

And none of it felt forced.

Bret Hart with that fire, man.

Selfishly I want Martha to get over this but I'm not in place to have any expectations for someone that went through what she did.

And he brought that energy to a March of Dimes event where he was the spokesperson. In the full interview he's more than happy to bring up guys' names just for the sake of burying them lol

AEW has to figure out how to get these packages on the air more. They are very well done. Cut out some of the fluff matches that are just there for these. Build some stories better.

That's a knock on production but also wrestlers today too.

Wrestlers want to get as many moves in as they can, for the sake of wrestling longer. And production wants to focus on wrestling more as well.

This leads to some of the crucial parts being forgotten about at times or just less emphasized.

It's my main knock on AEW. Yes, they want to be the pro wrestling company and all, but don't forget, the parts about wrestling you loved also involved characters and stories and not just wrestling. Guys like Bret, Eddie, Flair and others weren't guys only known for matches.

Forbidden Door sold out during the presale yesterday in less than 40 minutes.

They did hold sections back for today’s general public sale, and expect those to go quickly.

I'm stoked that it's meant to be a real NJPW vs AEW card. I just hope politics don't ruin too many dream matches.

Yeah I think the placement of this show is just bad. I think if they had sometime in July, it would have worked better.

I'm expecting Okada vs Danielson and Punk vs Kenta. Punk vs Okada is not a match I want to see over Okada/Danielson.

I do think that NJPW should go over more than AEW because it's not going hurt those who lose and can then even out with the next joint PPV.

I was thinking Okada/Danielson too. And it works better because Danielson isn't a protected singles guy right now.

As awesome as this show will be, looking at the NJPW roster it really sinks in how stagnate that promotion has been through the pandemic. They haven't been able to bring in new faces to build on.
