Re: AEW Off-Topic
Okada made it rain indeed, Toyko Sports says he signed a 3 year deal with AEW worth $13.5M which comes out to $4.5M annually. No way WWE was going to try to match that, TK definitely overpaying to keep people from going to WWE.
Wonder what the numbers will be for Mercedes' contract.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
From what I've read, most WWE stars are paid well, your top stars make around what Okada is getting. With some top stars due up for new contracts(Rollins, McIntyre, Becky, etc) they likely will have much higher pay. Obviously we have seen Bayley and Charlotte re-sign with the company already, but going to be interesting to see how Endeavour values certain talent or if they let just let Triple H and Nick Khan throw out a number and they just write the check.Comment

Really disliked Kevin Kelly on commentary, so not a huge loss in my eyes.

Re: AEW Off-Topic
He's arguably the best professional wrestler on the planet. I think they're hoping that him being in the US full time will lead to him being a huge star domestically for AEW, not just as a connection to Japan.

Re: AEW Off-Topic
I think they've had the best roster by far for a while now, from a workrate and promo standpoint, but they just need to bring the entertainment and intrigue like they used to. It's the balance that Cody brought when he was there. Storylines need time to breath and develop. It can't be just "let's have this awesome match, then that one, then that one," etc. But they are serving multiple masters with weekly TV ratings, trying to build up to big matches on PPVs, and bringing in new people all the time. I don't know how they go from where they are now back to being hot on TV every week. Okada won't do that. Neither will Mercedes.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
I've been with AEW from the start but there's one thing that is really starting to turn me off from watching.
They seem to do everything that is normally reserved for ppv's including a million false finishes and all their crazy moves on Dynamite.
A perfect example of this is the Ospreay v Fletcher main event on Dynamite.
A great match no doubt with a lot of talent shown off.
However there are a couple problems they create by doing this.
First, on the upcoming main events if they just have regular good solid matches they won't look as good by comparison, and if the matches are slower paced with less crazy moves they might even look bad.
Second, on their ppv's if Ospreay is wrestling Fletcher or even someone else how do they top their tv show?
I suppose they could drop each other on their heads 10 times instead of 5 like on Dynamite lol.
Similar to how they have been using Moxley for the most part. Bleeding every week on tv and having these wars and then when they do the ppv it's a feeling of the same old thing even if it's something that should be pretty cool compared to WWE.
It kind of feels like everyone is out to do as many crazy moves as they can in their match and it could be a booking problem. Instead of building a show with some special spots it's week after week of the same crazy moves making it less special and even boring to watch.
I understand how being the new company they wanted to make an impression so they went overboard with anything and everything they could try but now I hope they slowly reign back the way their matches are put together and pace themselves.Comment

It makes when they do compete feel more special because it's not just another tv match just with no commercial breaks.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
There's a certain group of people who will love watching those fast-forward spotfest matches every single week. How big that group is, idk. And critics will always praise those matches with 5 stars, even if they are happening in front of 1000 people. Great promos and angles will always outdraw all of that tho. That's what Cody brought, and all of the Elite stuff. Jericho can also add it. They need more of that.Comment

The same Meltzer who claimed half the Revolution card was borderline 5 star matches.
Unfortunately, seems like Tony caters to the Meltzers of the world and dirtsheets and cagematches.net of the Internet.Last edited by Majingir; 03-09-2024, 10:25 PM.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
We've already seen Sammy get suspended again, now Max Caster is running his mouth on social media again.
Guys just don't learn do they? If it's one time things that's different, but when the same guys are the ones every few months getting in trouble for similar reasons, something has to be done eventually. Up to management to talk to them and get them to straighten up or else, can't just be friends with everyone and let things slide.
Max claiming he was hacked. So a hacker got into his account and started replying to dozens and dozens of people in his mentions?Last edited by Majingir; 03-11-2024, 02:16 PM.Comment
