Trying to watch Rampage and TNT just keeps cutting out on me every 5-10 seconds, making it almost impossible to watch.

Only channel that’s doing it to me [emoji849]

Hook has a ton of potential and I like his presence (he gets that you need to have "attitude" to get over), but no selling the Rikishi Driver & manhandling a guy twice his size just looks ridiculous.

Hopefully, Tony Khan doesn't hotshot this kid and builds him up slowly against similar sized (to him) opponents.

His dad and whoever else has trained him have done a damn good job thus far, though. Kid could be a real star if they don't let the hype get to them & build him up slowly.

I love Cody & Sammy both doing the other guy's stuff to each other.

That one plant in the crowd is the worst seller I've ever seen...

I have zero issues with this. Let’s cement this Cody acting like a baby facing…but cementing his heel status.

Great match......even with the lame *** wrestling sites ruining the finish.

I really don't understand the hate for Cody, although he does come across as too self important.

Is it all the stuff he does outside of the main AEW product and the fact that he wants to reach that mainstream audience?

I think that’s part of it.

Another part is Cody today is the same Cody from AEW Day 1. There really hasn’t been much change to his character, unlike the other originals.

I also think he’s really the only wrestler in AEW who gets his wins back…similar to how Cena was booked in WWE.

Unless something changes with all his outside engagements, and/or the TBS/TNT executives become cool with their most "marketable" talent becoming a full - on heel, then I'd assume this babyface character (getting "heel heat") will continue.

The only pushback I'd say is that Cody isn't the only AEW "original" to have no character shift or change.

Nyla Rose, Riho, Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin, etc. have all remained pretty much the same since AEW's inception, IMO.

I don't really get why, but I think the crowd feels like he's presented and booked like a "WWE booked" talent. Even though he does a lot of the goofy, indy style stuff they eat up at the same time.

It really is confusing & funny at the same time cause no one talks about the crowd "rejecting" his booking, "hijacking" the show or any of the other language used when it happened to Cena & Reigns.

At the same time, AEW has that self imposed "can't compete for the world title clause" so that limits how high up the card he can go. Smart move in hindsight, although I think it was intended for a completely different purpose.

I liken it to Seth Rollins in 2019. The fans liked Seth, he beat Lesnar at Mania like the fans wanted, then something changed throughout the Summer and he was starting to get booed. I think for Seth, it was his comments about Moxley & AEW mixed with the terrible booking was when fans started turning on Seth. Cody was fine too and I have to wonder if his comments about never turning heel played a role, maybe them getting a reality show to be more WWE like, I don't know.

After the show was over, Cody was giving a post show speech thanking the crowd, Cody was teasing about returning to Greensboro and brought out Tony Khan as the man who can make that happen. Tony congratulated Cody on winning the title and we booed pretty loudly. Cody laughed, "Guys we're off the air", trying to play it off, etc. I can't remember if we started chanting "We Want Hook" during this segment or if it was because of earlier in the show but Tony yells to the back... "SEND HOOK!" Hook comes out, slaps Cody. They broke it up, Tony said the next time they are in Greensboro, he would give us Cody vs Hook. Thanked the crowd again and that was it.

Just to clarify, when I say AEW originals, I’m talking about the OG BTE originals before there was even a company (Cody, Omega, The Bucks, Hangman).

The other four have either turned heel or in the case of Hangman, their character went on a two-year-long journey.

                              Cody however is still Cody.

Now me personally, I have zero issues with Cody, but he’s clearly garnering a reaction that’s opposite of how it’s supposed to be.

But I guess any reaction is better than stone cold silence.

I agree with a lot of what you said, but also have to say that it has a little to do with the fickleness of modern wrestling fans.

Fans just grow tired of some people and how they are portrayed on television.

I think that's partly why WWE turned Becky Lynch how they did - in hindsight that was an even bigger mistake than first thought, IMO - or why they turned D.B. into the "planet's champion" when they did. (Sorry, for injecting WWE into the conversation so much....[emoji38][emoji38][emoji38]).

I do hope that make that shift eventually cause I've always, except for a few exceptions, found Cody way more interesting & entertaining as a heel.
