Did anyone notice if AJ Mendez (fka AJ Lee) is/was in the crowd during the opening segment?

Props to Moxley gave the kid a lot of offense even if the ending was academic.

That pop when Punks music hit, how loud was that!

That was bottom of the 9th, game 7 of the world series, walk off grand slam level of loud.

I think the ex-WWE promos suck too. But if anyone deserves to cut one, it's Punk. And if there's anybody that can make them not suck, it's Punk

              He earned that, I think

Nah, TNA did too many and ruined them for everyone for the rest of time. It’s just a lame cheap pop at this point. Punk can cut good promos without the crutch.

jesus christ, i am still just in absolute shock it really happened, despite literally everyone knowing it was gonna happen.

                  what an absolute moment.

                    Re: AEW Rampage Thread

Dynamite can open on Wednesday with a 20 minute commercial free CM Punk promo and I'd have no problem with that. Can't wait for Wednesday!

As for Punks exit and shot at WWE, we all know the story, not just for him, but many people. Its nothing against the fans, or the talent, or anything like that. Its various things happening backstage, mainly involving people high up (not specifically McMahon, but others as well).

Glad he can come back, give fans closure while getting it himself as well. He probably won't ever compete in WWE again, and his closure in WWE will probably happen with a HOF induction however many years down the road, but its nice to enjoy what we now have with him in AEW.

So much potential for matches and feuds in AEW.

I hope it's a long term deal and full on schedule. Week in and week out having CM Punk on TV will be great.

That's the craziest part. Worst kept secret in wrestling, but everyone is still so excited and "shocked".

The next guy who comes to AEW, I hope they don't do it in NY. Do it before then to really catch people off guard. I don't care if his match is at the NY show, but make that debut be before then.

So then I should ignore everything he stated prior to joining Backstage on FS1, then?

I get he still has ill will and animosity towards the company - clearly someone there does too - but eventually you gotta let that **** go.

And bringing it up 7 years later, after we've already heard him state his grief before, is beyond petty.

I'm just hopeful that this means big things for AEW and professional wrestling in general (WWE included).

I mean this was his first major appearance on live wrestling TV in 7 years, I think there will be very few who have an issue with what was said.

Time has healed some wounds for sure, but once you poke at the wound, it can still shoot out of the spots that hasn't healed (if that makes any sense).

Apparently people were buying multiple Punk shirts thst were exclusively sold at the arena and now a whole bunch are up on Ebay already. Some people on Twitter said "fans" were posting the shirt on Ebay during the show.

                                That was 100% expected.

Too bad they didn't just do a "X shirts per purchase" rule.
