- In a big time pitching matchup, Matt Harvey of the Mets faced off against Stephen Strasburg of the Nationals. Both pitchers would struggle, but Harvey would end up with the win as the Mets won 6-4.
- Cole Hamels was sharp in his Arizona debut, but Madison Bumgarner looked like he was in midseason form. Bumgarner threw six scoreless innings, while Hamels allowed a run in seven to earn his first loss with his new team. Angel Pagan went 5/5 on the day with a double for San Fran.
- Carl Crawford hit a walkoff triple, scoring Jacob Turner in the bottom of the 9th as the Dodgers start the season with a win vs. the Padres.

4/8
- What a debut for Pirates pitcher Johnny Cueto. Cueto got all the run support he needed, and even pitched in with the offense. The righty went 2/4 at the dish with a three run home run. He also threw eight innings, struck out eight and gave up three runs in the 15-3 win over his former team the Reds.
- Matt Wieters tied the game in the top of the ninth with a three run home run off Jake Mcgee. It wouldn't matter, however, as the Rays would walk off thanks to an error by the Orioles Chris Davis.
- Michael Bourn finished with three hits, two doubles and five RBI and catcher Yan Gomes would go 4/5 with a home run and five RBI as the Indians crushed Houston 12-1.
- The Pirates Jameson Tallion made a masterful debut, throwing a complete game six hitter. Wyatt Khan, making his Reds debut, wasn't so special. Khan lasted just four innings, and gave up five earned on the day as the Pirates swept the series with a 6-1 win.
- Despite a great debut from AJ Burnett, the Kansas City Royals would end up losing in 11 innings to the Chicago White Sox Burnett struck out ten and left the game tied at zero after eight innings. Adam Eaton and Nate Schierholtz both homered in the 11th to win 3-0.
- The Phillies AAA affiliate Lehigh Valley open their season tonight, as Archie Bradley made his organizational debut. Bradley was terrific, going the distance in the 4-1 win. He allowed just three hits on the day. If this keeps up, there's no way the team can keep Bradley in the minors without a fan revolt. In AA, 2014 2nd round pick Adrian Ozuna made his pro debut, allowing an earned run in six innings and striking out three.
