Boise, ID - The Athletic Director at Boise State announced today that head basketball coach Greg Graham has been let go after the Broncos finished the season with an overall record of 7-21 and a WAC record of 3-13.

The AD also announced the hiring of Bob Knight to become the new head basketball coach of the Boise State Broncos. Bob Knight was formerly the head coach of Virginia Military Institute when he had a combined record of 32-24, including guiding the Keydets to their first ever sweet sixteen.

"I would like to thank the AD at Virginia Military Institute for giving me the opportunity to start my head coaching career and I wish the team well. I would also like to thank Boise State for allowing me the chance to bring them back to the top of the Western Athletic Conference and I hope that expectations are high because I wouldn't want it to be any other way." new basketball coach Bob Knight stated.

                    The Next Chapter Begins

Boise, ID - It's time for the midnight madness intrasquad game in front of a crowd filling 25% of Taco Bell Arena, which is an increase of 7% from last year's average attendence. That must be a sign right there of an increase in enthusiasm in the Broncos upcoming season, which starts with road games at Gonzaga, at #22 Washington and at Long Beach State.

New head basketball coach Bob Knight watched over the game as the players try to adjust to the slower offensive tempo and the man-to-man defense, both different from coach Graham's.

Congrats on the new job. The WAC is a great conference to coach in, from coaching at Nevada last year. It'll be interesting to see how your recruiting goes in the upcoming years. Nevada was close enough to California to benefit from that rich talent pool. However, Idaho seems a tad more remote.

A word of warning, though. Be wary of the February 27th game in Hawaii. It sound like a nice trip at face value, but that Hawaii mascot still gives me the chills whenever I think back on it.

                        Congrats!

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind when we head towards the "island paradise". What a climate change though. Going from Idaho to Utah to Hawaii. After that, we have a week to regroup and get ready for the senior day game against the Wolfpack.

I bet if you look at the team ratings for those three schools, they will be pretty high.

Btw, big congrats on moving out west. No one in that conference will know what the heck to do with your brand of ball!

I was going to say there were quite a few winnable games on the schedule but then I looked at your roster...

Not to forget your annual trip into the "swamp" of Louisiana every year. I always thought that school belongs in conference-USA with UTEP moving into the WAC. What a nice rivalry UTEP could have with NM State, considering the schools are only 40 miles apart.

BTW, it looks like you are about to "lap" me, as I've just finished game 3 in year 2 with Tennessee-Martin. (It still takes me three weeks to get through the ABL ) Anyways, game 2 was a loss at UTEP. The cool thing was the announcers made a nice homage to Don Haskins and the Texas Western team that beat Kentucky back in the 60's during the game. This is what I love about the game. Little nuggets like this are not unlocked unless you happen to play a certain team, in this case UTEP. It was enough to get me to go out a buy the dvd "Glory Road".
