How did you do this year with the coach's carousel? Did you receive any offers from other schools? Also, by chance, do you remember how many years was your contract with Boise State?

You are still killing me in terms of goals earned. You have earned seven goals that I have yet to earn. One of your goals (2k sports elite camp) doesn't exist any more in the next gen version. Nice job.

I seem to come "close but no cigar" on a few. Last year, Valpo had the #21 recruiting class in the country. Give me a break. There are three goals that I've earned that you haven't yet. However, you still have a big lead in goals earned (as always)!

Also, do you remember where 'D. Wolff' came from originally? I take it Bo Ryan retired from Wisconsin in previous seasons?

I was only offered head coaching jobs from the Mid-Major and small schools that had openings, from Miami (OH) through the rest of the list below them. Since the mid-major schools would only be a lateral move, I decided to decline them all and stay at Boise State. I am now in my 2nd year of the 3-year extension.

I got my big burst in goals achieved thanks to bringing VMI to the sweet sixteen in the 1st season as head coach and it grew from there.

I'll have to check on former Wisconsin head coach "D.Wolff". I don't know if I can find my notes from previous years that haven't been chewed up by my dogs.

It looks like I've got a much tougher OOC schedule lined up since I got Boise State to finish 2nd in the WAC. At first glance it looks that way but it may not be that way. Our OVR rating is 84. The Hurricanes are 84, Missouri is 83 and Notre Dame is 85. Unfortunately for us, those games are on the road. We also have home-and-homes against both Southern Miss (81) and Air Force (75). We also have the possibility of facing another 80+ team if we can upset Missouri in the Legends Classic opening round game.

I found out about D. Wolff in my notes. He was the head coach of Boston University originally. In my dynasty, D. Wolff took over for a fired Tulsa coach at the end of season 4.

An OVR rating of 84 is great. I take it that this is the best rating in the WAC?

I'm not sure, but it seems like it's tougher to receive a job promotion in the same year that your current school extends a contract. If this is the case, you have a 1-year window to receive a promotion before your next extension.

I actually don't think the scheduling works this way, though. A few years back, I was coaching Santa Clara in the WCC on a current gen system. In the WCC, there was a "Gonzaga" schedule that was loaded with power teams. Season after season, that schedule seemed to rotate among the 8 WCC teams, though. It didn't always go to the first place team in the conference.

Your tough OOC schedule could really help with your RPI this season.

Nice year there Don! Getting to the NIT is still something to be proud of considering it's only your second year. Utah State was really good, so I wouldn't feel bad about not getting to the Big Dance.
